So there hasnt been a lot of progress, some busy weekends and awful weather have got in the way. I decided to start something I can do indoors so ordered all 4 replacement lamps (2x H4, 2x H1), H1 LED conversion and my plan for the indicators... Also bought some relays/switches/crimp terminals and had a little play about as Ive not used crimps before. Just dodgily taped and soldered things til they worked as I'm not great at the whole 'electricity' thing. Luckily the truck doesnt have a lot of it. But I did have an issue during experimenting, I use a hacked up PC PSU for a 12vdc source, unfortunately it doesnt play well with the relays. When switching it will cut off, I'm guessing as some sort of surge protection as it thinks its protecting PC components. No pics as I'm still waiting on a few bits but have a snapshot of my plan. If you can think of a smarter way of doing things please say because, as above, I'm like a caveman when it comes to electronics of any sort. Note I still have no idea how the light switch will work, currently its a three state (off, 1 , 2) pull switch but I might try something to modernise this.

i have literally no idea what you are trying to do or why but it looks ridiculously complicated

What are you trying to achieve with the wiring diagram?
I can see 2x H4 Lo, 2x H4 Hi & 2x H1. What's with the relays labelled "ind"?

For the indicators, is this what you are trying to get to?

yes, but apart from that, the setup is for a vw admittedly, but it was more as a pointer as there are only so many ways you can wire up the lights.

lights were working alright, so not sure what he is trying to do, i am an electrician and I can't even recognise the things on his diagram! Some of them look like transistor symbols and mh is usually used for chokes. Sam enlighten us.

I'm enjoying the confusion personally. I will say my circuit diagram works 100% as I want, the only missing piece is a flasher relay in the indicators.
Ignore the specs under the relays, which are a bit of a fix just because of the software used. It hated normal relays.
And Will yes it worked, don't worry I'm not reinventing the wheel just a bit of modernising that hopeful nobody will notice unless I point it out.
For now I think I'll let the head scratching continue and I'll hopefully have a demonstration once everything has arrived.

Looks to me like you're wiring up flashing headlights, like an emergency vehicle?!

wondered if you wanted headlamps with yellow covers on to work as headlamps, but then for them to flash when indicating, but you have six headlamps on the diagram.

I saw that cheeky edit, came in from a long day of work, had some dinner, thought Id have a read of RR and then I'm being attacked for my wiring diagram drawing abilities! curse word I work in projects, not an electrician lol. But you are half way there, you're wrong on the 6 lamps

btw, no attack was intended from this corner, or any corner for that matter I imagine! We're a helpful, if misunderstood, lot here.

Liking this build, are you doing anything more to the rx7 at all? noticed it in a couple photos looking all forlorn and sorry for itself XD

so you are getting the head lights flashing in anti-phase with the indicators like many modern cars do?
The only issue I can see is the h4 hi and the relay below it (sidelights? )seem to be wired in series, unless they are 6V relays this is likely to give long term problems.

Liking this build, are you doing anything more to the rx7 at all? noticed it in a couple photos looking all forlorn and sorry for itself XD Unfortunately it is just forlorn, I have the funds to get the engine looked at but not sure on a company to take it to. Plus the engine bay needs welding so doesn't make sense to send it away, get it back then pull the engine. Cos I would like to send the whole car away for a once over before I start doing anything serious. so you are getting the head lights flashing in anti-phase with the indicators like many modern cars do? The only issue I can see is the h4 hi and the relay below it (sidelights? )seem to be wired in series, unless they are 6V relays this is likely to give long term problems. So this is an issue I realised after, the headlights will flash where as I was trying to kill the whole lamp so will need to seperate the relay and have two flashers if I go that way. It may be a moot point though depending on if I run indicators in all 4 or just the H1. As I shouldn't be indicating with the high beams on anyway to alert someone in front of me... Plus with just two it makes a sidelight setup simpler. The relay from switch is series, the lamp side is parallel. I had to do this as having one relay meant the H4 earthed through the H1. But as said I'm really not great at this whole electricity thing so I'm sort of winging it and hoping the lights turn on and off when I want. Otherwise my LED H1 turned up and while it's not night and day to the halogen (in a lit room admittedly) it is brighter, claiming 2500-3000 lumens over the pair. Also easier to sort wiring rather than converting H7 to H1. Also got the indicators but they're too big for what I'm planning so back to China for another pair.
