Yep, moaning from the wife aside, it would have been uninsured as it wasn't cost effective to maintain the insurance on this as well as its replacement, for the extra cash I *may* have been able to achieve from the sale. So that lack of insurance would have made taking people out in it tricky unless they had their own insurance (this buyer did, through his trade), and keeping *just enough* petrol in it for test drives. Also, getting to late Feb would then risk having to pay another month on the road tax.
It had weeks to run on ebay and 35 watchers but no offers. Thinking out loud... why would so many people watch a car that is a classified ad rather than put an offer in? It's not like it was an auction and they'd wait to the last minute to bid. Maybe just to see how many offers were made and then rejected?

No offense to those who blasted me for saying it was priced above market, but *cough* I told you so. OP I feel your pain, it took me 2 months to shift the Xantia V6 at the price I wanted. Quite right. You 'told us so' and have subsequently be proved wrong. Someone bought it because they identified the potential profit in it and were in a position to try a low ball offer to someone under increasing pressure to sell. I'll look out for the advert when it's back up for a higher price and send you the link, perhaps then you can bore someone else with your wisdom. No offence.

My man, how was I wrong? Let's review the facts.
1) Mondeo gets put up for sale at 400 then 350. 2) I judge it slightly (note: slightly) above what I think is market price for such a vehicle. 3) Car gets sold at what looks like lower (maybe much lower) than the asking price (the one I said was above market)
It's amazing that of all the people who thought it was a good deal and posted that my assessment of the price was wrong, a grand total of 0% actually bought it, let alone go and view it.
The E46 which was on these boards for 300 was a great deal and competitively priced. It sold on the day it was posted for the asking price (still kicking myself for not pulling the trigger on this one).
Please send me the link when it goes back up for sale, I've had 3 already and would like to have fun CVPI'ng another one.
The dude who bought it can put it for 1000 bucks if he wants, I have bought and sold enough big-engined gas vehicles over the last years to know where the market is for this kind of vehicle and that is between 250 and 300. For the record had it been put on sale at 300 at the start I would have made the trip up. Moot point now, I know.

£500/600 to the right punter.
2.5l is hardly a big engine though. These are pretty good on juice.

It's amazing that of all the people who thought it was a good deal and posted that my assessment of the price was wrong, a grand total of 0% actually bought it, let alone go and view it. Questionable logic there. Each advert usually has hundreds of views but only one purchaser. The fact that 30 people think it's a bargain doesn't mean that any of those 30 will be heading over to see the car in the flesh. People have their own situations you know, whether that be financial, family, storage, space, travel etc etc. Can't believe I've actually stuck a little toe into this 'debate'. I'm glad the OP got his sale, despite someone posting in his FS thread that the car was over-priced. Hugely welcomed by the seller, I'm sure.....

He needed a quick sale, and let it go well aware that someone else with more time available is 100% going to make a profit out of it! Just because something sold cheap doesn't mean that's all it's worth
