Ive been using this as daily transport since July, I love it, but longer and longer journeys to work are not fair on it. It deserves and needs some TLC, which I do not have the time for. Its done approx 159,000 miles. It hasnt let me down at all, recently it occassionally has a bit of a misfire although seems to clear (i suppose it could even be blocked fuel filter but havnt investigated). Good points: Just look at it, it gets great comments all the time. £200 a year insurance. Mot until July 7 seats Good tyres all round Self levelling suspension works Lots of old MOTs and service receipts Receipt for reconditioned steering box in 2008 (these are apparantly expensive now so good its been done) Bad points Rear arches and tailgate are a bit crusty Interior needs shampooing and cleaning, its a bit shabby. Exhaust manifold is blowing so doesnt sound too good. Exhaust is in good condition but sometimes knocks so probably needs a hanger/rubber sorting out. Heater blower is a bit erratic Picture it with a set of penta alloys and the minor issues sorted, and you have a great practical classic merc on the cheap. If theres any interest il do some more photos of inside etc..

Orient red, like my saloon. A £2500/3000 car with the faults sorted and interior cleaned up.
I'm tempted to take it just to save it from being broken, and swap the wheels with mine.
Is there much recent history and any evidence of the timing chain being done? Does the central locking still work, and Is the steering fairly tight? What advisories were noticed on its MOT?

Thanks for the interest: Ok Mot runs out 30th June - Sorry I said July, genuine error by me.
Advisories: offside and nearside rear wheel arches corroded. Nothing else
the previous owners had clearly spent a lot on it over the last few years, a quick run down below ( there are more receipts to this) Most by merc specialists: July 10: £1350 engine mounts, door and window seals, 3 central locking elements, and other bits. June 12: £547 service, brake pads and sensors, control arm and bushes. June 13: £543 service plus other bits July 09: £1268 shock absorbers, exhaust box, ball joint, brake hoses etc.. Dec 08: £1318 recon steering box, Discs and pads, steering idler, arb links, control arm etc.. June 11: £525 Service, steering damper etc.. June 10: £643 Service, exhaust etc.. July 11: £866 front shocks, cold start valve etc.. Aug 11: £182 Steering box high pressure pipe, ps oil However I cant find any receipts for timing chain, but they clearly didnt mind spending money on it.
Central locking works and opens fine after a journey but vacuum obviously drops over night so only the unlocking door will open, once engine is started all doors unlock.
Steering feels fine to me - i havnt driven another w123 to compare it to - i can only compare it between a 1949 chevy pick up and a new freelander, its a zillion times better than the chevy and not as good as the freelander???
Hope this all helps, i really don't want to break it, mainly due to time (plus I think its too good for that) A good rolling resto for the spring?

Lovely looking car. Love the shape. I know you say shabby interior but could you please try and put some photos of the inside on. What colour is the inside by the way? Thanks

Yes I will put interior pics up, it may not be until the weekend now as a busy week is ahead. The interior colour is (i don't know the correct name) beige/cream?, black dash and wood trim.

Yep I think its very good value for money, its priced like that as i want it gone as desperately need the space back (and obviously due to the faults listed), Hopefully when i put some interior pics up at the weekend it will help sell it? BTW, I paid more than what I'm asking for it 6 months ago with only a couple of weeks of MOT left, then i had 2 new tyres fitted, so I'm loosing money at this price.

Right, after a couple of timewasters saying they wanted to view the car and not turning up and one saying he definately wanted it and his dad would collect this weekend - he now wont answer his phone. I will give this one more try at £750 but at that price please don't mess me around, i need the space asap. I wont be breaking the car as i don't have the time space or inclination. If it doesnt sell at that price I will GIVE it to the breakers - please don't think I'm an ar53 hole, I'm just fed up with people who don't turn up when they say they will, wont answer the phone to my calls or have the b0ll0x to ring and cancel. RANT OVER, I'm really am quite nice and approachable!

I've linked this to MBclub. You may get a bite from there.
I was mulling over having it, but I can't find the time just yet.
