Finished up in the engine bay, ran it up to temp then took it for a quick spin to ensure that everything worked as it should. More good fortune - it all worked perfectly - the only difference between driving this one and the black one was the toothed belt whine, it was louder now. The only thing changed on the engine since it was in the black one was the charger belt - the original one had rubbed on the mangled chassis leg after the crash so I changed it for one of Pete Mirfin's off clubG40. Gave it a quick clean and stood back to admire the fruit of my labour!

Finally recieved a settlement in mid February 2013 - less than a week before it was due in Court. It was pretty much what I was hoping for, so I accepted it. It was finally over! Good job the black one wasn't my only ride, 9 months would have been a massive pain in the cock with no car! This pic is from early March on the way to an MOT - the day I got my cheque! Finally back on the road in a G40!

Its first decent run out was to Santa Pod - but like a complete halfwit I forgot my driving licence! :$ It was very busy so wouldn't have got many runs in anyway - many old school fords in attendance! Had a good spectate all day long in good weather, and caught up with a few lads off clubG40 so it wasn't a wasted trip.

My best friend had a red one of these about 15 years ago. It was nick named the "bread van" and the 3 things I remember was that it was very fast, the brakes were terrifying and finding a gear was a bit like stirring bricks in a bucket. We terrified ourselves silly in it and had a lot of fun.

Couple of pics after a buffing session in Spring last year. Its ridiculous how much curse word sticks to a car when in a garage over Winter - was filthy before the buffing!

Got it out again just before the Tatton Park show in August - had been busy with the rebuild of the blue car (thread to come soon!) so this one didn't see much use in 2014. Seen here outside my unit after a good blast down the lanes.

Bought this in September 2013 - It was for sale for 8 months before I bought it, I can only assume that people were put off either by the reg plate or the price tag! The for sale ads on eBay and clubG40 made it out to be in concourse condition other than the brakes needing some attention and it was priced at 3500 sheets. The speedo was questioned, whether it was a genuine G40 was questioned among other things until the owner got curse word off with it not selling and dropped the price. I had a good think about it for a couple of days and thought " curse word it - no harm in having a look! " The car was in Croydon and I was in Cheshire, it was a long way to go for a look - what if I wanted to buy it? A trailer was borrowed, the seller was contacted and I was on my way at 5.30am on a Saturday morning accompanied with a wad of dosh!

Got there at 9am and sure enough it was at the bottom of a steep winding hill with parked cars either side of the road - this was going to be fun with a trailer and nowhere to turn round at the end of a dead end street! The lad got the car out of a lock up and started it up. Sounded right enough so started to have a good old nosey. His idea of "concourse" was clearly not the same as mine! The body was pretty good - a couple of tiny dents on the doors, a small one on the tailgate and a bit of a ripple on the bonnet. Pretty insignificant, but I have a keen eye for stuff like this. There was very little visible rust, a bit on the slam panel and a bit on the inner wing bottom near where it joins the sill. Again this was pretty insignificant and a whole lot better than the majority of twenty odd year old Polos that have not had any restorative work done. The arches and sills were absolutely spotless though - never seen such good ones on a car this old - this was a big plus for me. The paintwork overall was pretty curse word as far as I was concerned, it had been blown over (probably before it was first sold in the UK) but everything had been masked up such as windows, lights, trims etc. It looked very good from a short distance away but up close you could see that it had been resprayed very cheaply. The finish was pretty decent but you could see where stone chips and scratches had been painted over and there were little white flecks under the lacquer over most of the car. I've been called a picky curse word over this but I've always been fussy about paint! The interior was grubby but all there and there didn't appear to be much wear which was expected as the car had only done 53694 miles. Happy with that. The only really curse word bit of the car - the bit that would be a massive pain in the cock to rectify - was the battery tray. Its a common problem on these cars and not many get repaired properly. This is what greeted me when I removed the battery - Didn't know at the time what kind of mess was concealed by the fibreglass and seam sealer!

I offered the guy a decent chunk less than the asking price and the bargaining ensued. A deal was struck - he seemed reluctant to miss out on a sale and a deal was done. Transpires that nobody else had even been to view it before me, and it had been for sale since February! I just thought that it had the potential to be a properly sweet standard G40 - and I wasn't very likely to ever find another T registered one for sale. Paperwork was done ( there was a letter wrong in the VIN on the logbook but I've seen that on other cars ) and I was on my way home. It was indeed a right faff getting the trailer turned round but persistence paid off! Couple of pics from when I got it home - Poverty spec interior -
