I think the truck looks like a great old motor! I helped out at a pretty substantial car crash the other day and the one (innocent) driver was in a newer version, he got out with a bust arm, any other motor he would've been in some trouble.
I also agree with you on the tip! before I had to sell it (darn covid) my little van was the biggest I could take to the tip, but was only allowed once a month. problem is they aren't 'tips' any more i suppose, but 'recycling centres' so different bureaucratical rules i guess. I have been told they're all worried about companies dropping tings off all the time, but common sense should surely be employed... but hey ho!

That is truly shocking service from the RAC! Yep, thats pretty much what I thought, although I may have phrased it differently when I did eventually get home.

We've had the same problem with the AA and Commercial vehicles, when 11 hours later it was finaly recovered the driver told us the problem is they use contract recovery drivers and they only take the jobs they fancy and will which return the best profit. Clearly the RAC and AA could fix this by paying them more but they are nowadays focused pretty much on profit above all else.

Won't click like, because there isn't much to like about that post, although the relatively easy fix was mildly positive! Entertaining read as always though thanks.

Although an entertaining read as always it is shocking just how bad the service is that you're getting. I've always been with the AA and found them to be really good. I once drove my Vitesse from London to Birmingham and the waterpump failed while at at my sisters house, I called them on a Sunday Morning and the first guy tried everything to resolve it , even going back to his own house to find a fix. When that didn't work they organised recovery within a couple of hours and like you we had to change trucks part way through the journey. Really helpful and nothing was too much. I'd like to think they're still as good but I haven't had to put them to the test for some time.

Absolutley shocking service. not much more to say than that!
I use GreenFlag as I get them free with work. Only hahd cause to use them for motorbikes (always a laugh, one bike on a huge flatbed) and its been a mixed bag. First 2 times were great, 3rd time not so much. Including knocking it over, a 5 hour wait, giving me a precise and efinte time then turning up just before as i had gone for a drink and going of without me...) they also werent great when my folks car broke down a few years back, mixed bag! interestingly, first 2 breakdown peeps were genuinly interested in vehicles, and the 3rd guy couldnt care less about them.

Shocking service by the RAC indeed, and I wondered if I was just getting unlucky in the last three times I've needed to call them. I guess I'd sort of understand if I'd called them three times in the last week, but the last time I called them was 2015, so it's thankfully been a while. But as I sat there in the services at Sarn Park I did find myself browsing instagram, and typing in #RACbreakdown, it seemed to me like this is pretty much normal service for the RAC. There were a few that had good experiences, but the were mostly bad which is a bit displeasing, so in fairness I thought I'd also search for AAbreakdowns too, and there seemed to be more positives than negatives, so no prizes for guessing who will get my cover next year. Besides, I've always preferred yellow over orange anyway. To add insult to injury I meet up with my cousin pretty much monthly at a resturaunt which is about half way between our houses, and it takes us both about an hour to get there, on our last meet... She broke down about twenty minutes from where we meet, so I thought knowing how long it took me to get recovered that I would go and keep her company. After we'd fiddled with it and still not got it to go she called the recovery cover she gets for FREE with her bank, thirty minutes later she was picked up and on her way home. And thats a service she gets for FREE! What am I paying for?

If you'd shown me that doodle without any of the surrounding story I'd have said it looks like a Continental GT. So that is pretty cool!
