Maybe a smart is better in this category, or it surely is. But you must not talk about quality when speaking about smarts. In the end (and this means 100.000kms mostly) they are just disposables. And far too expensive for what they are.
Nice write-up once again.

Cool update. Too me it feels like the Aixam is one of those cars, where it's really basic and you just want to rag it to it's death until it can't do any more harm. I've driven a Smart Fortwo and didnt have the same feeling and even the rear wheels are wider than the Aixams' I enjoyed driving the Smart, 1l auto, nippy little thing with 71bhp, massive upgrade to....that.

I read all of your blog posts and thoroughly enjoy them all, but this one had me laugh out loud! What a great evening and something your kids will never forget. Excellent.

I'm glad that your daughters first foray in to the criminal world also gave you the opportunity to stick it to authority.
Better move it on quick, before it gets recognised on the back of a milk carton!

Awesome foray for the little monsters.
As I probably mentioned earlier, in France you can drive one of these things at 14yo, so yes, they're pretty much made for taking your first motoring steps in.
Alternatively, if you know someone with a farm, get them to try an offroad buggy where they can go for broke, without the fun police there to spoil proceedings.

PP, this strikes a chord. The eldest Bottle Opener is 17 this year and so eligable for a provisional license. I made the mistake (or was it?) of promising that I'd teach both to drive. And No.1 looms ever closer. I'm just hoping that by the time Bottle Opener No.2 hits the same age next year, I'll have recovered enough (or even still be alive) from the first one. Just hope they seem as natural as yours!
