I was watching that on eBay. Unusual spec. Love a series 1.

I was watching that on eBay. Unusual spec. Love a series 1. Yeah it is a bit odd. Pallas with leather, one door mirror and a manual version of the smallest engine... it is superb:) I've been catching myself just looking it over before getting into my car in the morn, and losing 5 mins!

Hadn't spotted the single door mirror. That spec must be unique. I had a series 1 Athena with the 2.0 Douvrin engine and a series 2 with the 2.2 version. Test drove a series 1 Turbo, that was fun.

They are brilliant cars And this one looks really nice , also being a later version of the series 1 this one has the wider front track with the flared front arches, but a lot of the early interior features. I've found they tended to vary by this point with things like radio and ashtray fittings and spec dictated how many aux buttons you got including in the roof. I believe though that leather was an option certainly for the Pallas...just not often ticked as the velour seats were thought to be superb...it may well have been retrofitted from a sandy coloured velour interior, and looking at the central headlining and door armrests I'd say it probably was, not that that detracts in any way from it :)nerd hat was on a bit there One door mirror was the standard, and although you could get the auto version this was only on the larger engined cars 2.4/2.5s, not the 2 litre, and originally fully auto was not an option, as originally they came with C-Matic (3 speed semi auto with manual lever with no clutch pedal) before they introduced ZF auto box later. What I find amusing was a lot of supposed strange/quirky features were simply not picked up on till modern times....things like the Brakes, although the travel is still very small on the pedal, modern cars seem to endeavor to replicate the immediacy of them these days and a modern car that doesn't (ie longer softer pedal application) is suddenly worryingly not confidence inspiring...will it stop? ... yet at the time and even now the comments of the CX having brakes that are on or off ...face in the windscreen....breathe on them and it'll emergency brake has been a criticism. Then the steering....OK so no fully active self centring (although the modern electric ones like Audis seem to pull and tug forcibly to the centre whilst driving...)and the new Mondeo...approximately the same at 2.5 turns lock to lock, something that was highlighted on the CX as having to get used to and a negative as most cars had huge lock to lock ratios with nothing much happening in the middle and would supposedly cause unfamiliars to dart wildly. Me, I find I miss the directness whenever I get into something else. Add to that all the inherent safety features the suspension and steering combined affords and there not a lot that comes close. Plus the Prestige and the estatesthe turbos and the diesels and there's pretty much something for everyone in the range. Anyway sorry for the detourof thoughts there, all in all a brilliant car and pretty much unique. Regards, 480cx I was watching that on eBay. Unusual spec. Love a series 1. Yeah it is a bit odd.
