Sup, everyone! My friend goldnrust mentioned a while ago that I should start a build thread on here. Anyways I'm Jesse, 24, from Auckland, New Zealand but now living in Worcester. It is creeping up on the 2 year mark since I got my 1984 RX-7 and I'm still on my damn provisional licence hah. Not the easiest car to learn to drive in aye! Didn't stop be from taking it to RRG 2014 though!.
I'll get straight to the point. When I first got the car. You can see how filthy the engine bay was before I wiped it down.
Picked her up from Durham which was a bit of a mission away aye hahah. Needed the intake manifold gasket replaced and the o-rings for the beehive oil cooler.
Yep... Knocked some core/freeze/welch plugs in the coolant holes while I had it off.
Leather shift and handbrake boots were pretty cheap and look much nicer than the weird stuff that came standard
My front nearside caliper decided to stick on when I was on the way to KFC one evening (I was so hungry too! ). Walked over to Bigg Red and got a seal kit from them and rebuilt the front calipers.
Exhaust was old and rusted out so I got a new one made up (excluding headers) from a local exhaust shop not long after RRG. Quite happy with the results and has a nice tone to it. I probably could of got a better tip as I'm not the biggest fan of rolled ends. But I suppose I could always just chop the rounded bit off
Apart from this I haven't done too much to it yet. Just general tinkering and getting to know the car aye. I want to get under the body and give it a good coating in POR15, also the POR15 fuel tank treatment, replace the bushes with the Energy Suspension set that is sat in my bedroom and hopefully when that stuff is done I'll be able to afford some GAZ coilovers! Progress is slow but I'll make sure to keep this updated for anybody that is interested hah.
Think that's about it for now so I'll leave with some decent pictures of the car from back in summer.
Chur!
