what prep is needed for that paint? ive been looking at various aerosols to give my T4 a rough and tough coat of paint The stuff is designed and manufactured to stick fast and cover well over rough, loose, degraded and contaminated surfaces. As paints go, they are brilliant. However, some of the pigments (usually the brighter colours) will fade over a year or so due to UV exposure. *n

Top grammar tips! Bought = purchased. Brought = relocated Lose = misplace/opposite of win. Loose = your mum

Today saw a good wedge of progress, finalising wiring and whatnot. Got all the work lamps fitted up- Bit wonky here but I've sorted that now. Started the stencils. Excuse finger. Wonder if anyone gets the number relevance. I wanted to have a wing mascot on the truck, I felt it was in keeping with what I was doing. Layer one.. Next layer.. Mask removed Final layer Demasked- Also stencilled the 'tree' logo on the drivers door. Also fitted running lights in the indicators. Honest. I have. It's a bit wannabe discovery 2 but I wanted to have some running lights on it as per the game, all the trucks have 'engine on' running lights. I was going to have 3 on the roof like the Ural, KrAZ and Kamaz but the light bar is in the way now so this will do.. More tomorrow. Maybe.

So, where do we go from here? It passed its MOT and was pressed immediately into service. Fast forward a few days and I find some mud and we go play. Having only even driven SJ's off-road, I was impressed at how well it did given its bulk. I also enjoyed the fact it's an auto, so far its made driving it in every respect more enjoyable I feel than if it was a manual, it doesn't hinder it off-road, if anything, makes it easier. Verdict? Love it. Pics I've nicked from my mate in the 90's G/F. Other than that, the serpentine belt tensioner made a bid for freedom which was caused by the thread being stripped, I have repaired that so time will tell on that front, just chasing water ingress issues now because its playing havoc with the electrics, and trying to slow the oil's constant bid for freedom.

Auto boxes are magic off road, my 110 v8 had an auto box, and the Borg Warner transfer box with the viscous diff, and that would plod along where manual trucks much more tricked out than mine would get stuck. Better for towing off road too. The truck's looking good, and good to see it being enjoyed. If you do work out how to keep the water out and the oil in, please tell the rest of us, and let Land Rover know too...

I've seen and commented on your Instagram pics, nice little project you've got here. I think the fox on the side looks good.

That looks right at home in those pics. Nice job!
Another vote for an auto box here. I'd never go back to a manual for off-road.

It's bugging me know because I can't guess what it means! The game trucks carry numbers.. 3-199 does relate to something though, it's an intentional number

Not a lot to report as of late, we painted mark's (Speedy88) CF2 recovery truck to match for a bit of support vehicle branding for the Dig For Victory show.. Towed some big old bits of metal around for aforementioned show.. Made a very useful tug. And a photo of it hiding behind the sheds, I was too lazy to carry a battery to the generator..

How heavy was the artillery? I loathe towing, but would tow that around just for the lulz!

How heavy was the artillery? I loathe towing, but would tow that around just for the lulz! Don't quote me on it but around 3 tonnes iirc. We have bigger, 9 tonnes thereabouts. I hasten to add I only moved this around our yard. It's too heavy for 2 people. It's ok with 4 (3 to lift and push and one to hang off the barrel) The gun tractor tows this beast along with the limber. Quite a sight.
