The only reason we didnt take the car was because of the V5 you cant prove its yours to sell, it looks like we're not alone in being diddled out of money by you. We don't want people to feel sorry, just you to pay the money back. you could also pay it back to the others mentioned in earlier posts and do the right thing LOL

Why hasn't you applied for the v5 in your name while owning it? Not saying you would do this, but the police would if tracking the car pop the reg number in and it would come up as previous owner. They would then be asking you many many questions as to why its not in your name. Not sure on the legalities either of insurance

Actually they do. So ... do you have a V5 ?
Is the answer to this question No, which is why you have been avoiding it?

Have bought cars without V5. Never paid a deposit sight unseen though. Why doesn't someone apply for the V5? My Starion came with a V5 from 1990, I don't know whose name is on it.

This Raidon sounds a right shady character and one I would not want to do business with. The right and gentlemanly thing to do is for him to just give the deposit back which he should have done on the day......however, he is right about one thing. The V5 confers no right of ownership. It merely states who is responsible for taxing the car (or SORN'ing it) and to be the point of contact in the event of, say, speed camera activations where the reg keeper is legally obliged to identify the driver. The OWNER of the vehicle can, and often is, different from the reg keeper and would be proven by receipts/financial transactions or other agreements to transfer ownership.
Having said that, though, there is a legal duty on the reg keeper to ensure that the records are up to date and, if on sale of the car, the old owner ceased to be the reg keeper, they send 'their' bit of the V5 in to notify DVLA which should also include the details of the new reg keeper and they would then be sent a V5. There is no legal obligation that I am aware of regarding the buyer however it makes sense that If the 'new' reg keeper does not receive a new V5 in a reasonable time they should contact DVLA to sort it out....In effect, it would appear that the reg keeper is still the old owner and all his details were there for checks to be made as to this sellers entitlement to sell the car. If the old owner had informed DVLA that he was no longer the reg keeper, this would show up in checks with DVLA.
This all assumes it wasn't passed to 'In trade' of course..........;-)
I have bought vehicles in the past where the sellers details are not on the V5 and providing you take reasonable steps to satisfy yourself that the seller is legally entitled to sell, no problems.

Raidon, you still haven't answered the question. Some people might be happy to take the risk when buying a car without a V5 in the sellers name, but your original ad should have stated the fact so prospective buyers could make an informed choice.
As a result of the way you've dealt with this and previous issues, you're no longer welcome on the forum (under any name).

which is criminal damage and police have been informed i think you need to think before you write..... Ahh, maybe they'll find those Dolomite carbs while they are about it! You know, the ones that were stolen from the boot and then magically reappeared on eBay after you'd sold the car... being sold from your eBay account? I bet hkr91 is still waiting for his satnav too... Still waiting, probably always will be.
