Good luck and great choice, my most favourite affordable car. Engines are good and hydraulics Re not too complicated. It's the rust that gets concealed. Remove rear wings and look for rot. You'll have a lot of fun with this but be prepared for craziness. My dad has a CX, it's very unconventional!

Sounds like you will be busy with that hopeful deadline, I look forward to seeing the much needed attention it will get.

Interesting project - good luck with it. Is it the model with the directional headlamps? Also what the hell is that barrel shaped tank next to the rad?!

Great car! This will make a great project, if not a particularly easy one... Also what the hell is that barrel shaped tank next to the rad?! Its for the hydraulic fluid.

I suppose the first question is whether to keep it standard or to change it. At the moment I am torn as to whether to return it to the standard colour and interior, or go wild with it. Any opinions?

It isn't down sarf yet. I collect it on Friday. I think I want to keep the standard colour, but fancy a brown or red leather interior. I also like the idea of a contrasting colour roof too, maybe in silver or white. Decisions, decisions.

Have a look at www.nuancierds.fr/ to find which body, roof and interior colours were available when new. If you choose a factory colour scheme (even if it's different than your car had when new) you won't regret it later.

I've seen a resto thread before on a DS - had me hiding under the bedsheets the amount of rust that was hidden, I'll try and find a link for you (you might not have seen it before)
