FWIW, a lot of EBay sales occur after the auction ends. And I don't think that many unusual cars sell the first time. But at $50 a pop, it gets pricey.
I just sold my '87 TVR S for my asking price ... a month after the auction ended. And the next day, another person emails and wants to know if I still have it. Since he offered $3k less than the sales price, I made sure he knew he missed a good deal.
Right now I'm wondering ... what would a set of Recaro seats run ... must .... talk ... myself ... out ... of ... this ...
GREAT build.

Aww, thanks man. Yeah, I've had several trade offers but nothing I want. Today I washed it for the first time and nothing leaks... Tomorrow I might make a video with it. I don't know, there's several things I can still do to it...

I don't know, there's several things I can still do to it... Well, we're closer to that BiTurbo burnout contest then as I had mine up and down the driveway this morning!! I need to put some type of exhaust on it, then I'll fine tune the carb, see if I'll break it as well as every else has

Trying to think of a contest to actually give it away... I really do like building them better than having them. PM any trade or cash offers or ideas. Car is located in Cleveland Ohio.

I'm the same way. Fix them. Sell them. Try to break even or make a few cents an hour for the labor.
How about a rear engine Cadillac Allante for the next project. With a manual like they should have done it in '87.

It's odd, but I am 1,000% against anything GM ever did. Well, the new Corvette and Camaros are cool, but other than those #neverbuychevyanything

Cadillac? Useless GM junk in any configuration.

I agree too ... GM totally screwed up everything except the beautiful Italian body. So keep the body and find something like a mustang drive train.
Have you seen the Ford Focus rear engine conversion package for sale ...
Think Jay Leno's Toronado rear engine conversion ...

Most people are knocking it and sure, it's a junkyard build but I don't see their cars on Bring a Trailer dot com and Jalopnik. I love what one guy said, "Imagine what he could do with a budget".
I have been saying that for years.
So cool to be noticed, good or bad because it's fun and interesting at the same time.

I wouldn't let it bother you. Jalopnik commenters are, by and large, utter arseholes. This. I now get what you were saying about why you don't post on American forums. *edit, just to reiterate what was said about Jalop commenters... Talking about this: Which I think is quite possibly, the prettiest modern saloon car I have seen in ages

Yep, see what I mean? But thanks ALL for being in my corner. And this car above? STUNNING. I'd be proud to drive that. It's beautiful actually. It's also Friday. Time for beers and happiness!

I wouldn't let it bother you. Jalopnik commenters are, by and large, utter arseholes. They slate everything, and have produced nothing themselves. Usually the comments are "If I built this, I would have done XYZ and it would have been much better", and everyone slaps themselves on the back, completely ignoring the fact they do not posses the skill to do 1/10th of what the creator of the posted car has done, and will never achieve anything like what you have with this build. I no longer read the comments over there for this reason - EVERY car gets the same reaction "this is curse word, I'd have done it better". Well come back when you HAVE done it better then. Doesn't bother me at all and thank you for the support! real car guys "get it". I wasn't trying to "save a Maserati", I was trying to find something different to stuff an engine into. Job done, hardly spent anything as far as project cars go. It runs and drives and I did it for laughs and in my spare time. I wonder what all those guys do in their spare time?
I'll bet it has something to do with their right hand and their gentlemen vegetables....
Hahaha

Well I for one have been well impressed by this build. It's a shame that your fellow countrymen might knock it in ANY way. To use a word that Americans & more commonly Irish young teenagers use - it's AWESOME. I like your positivity also. Keep up the good work man, you're a credit to this forum.

Thank you sir. Here's an update: Well, the car got almost 50,000 views in just a couple days with all of the press the internet gave it. Most hate it, who cares what they think. Doesn't bother me a bit. Do you want to know the biggest complaints? The gauges on the dash weren't straight. The wheels looked generic. The Jetta seats were terrible. The chrome Maserati reproduction emblem on the cheap aluminum dash. That's pretty much what they disliked the most. Pretty much valid comments really. Still don't care lol. The hole saw moved when I was drilling the gauge holes and I said screw it, wasn't going to build a new dash because of that. One guy even said that the 1UZFE engine was terrible and why would I use that engine? Shows you how much some of the keyboard warriors really know about cars. Ultimately, I do want it to be a bit better and I will take some of the complaints as constructive criticism. I will cover the dash. I MIGHT, just maybe find some different seats. This was one thing that only cost me a tenner and it helped the look massively, I think. What about you?

Me? I'd cover/flock the dash. What about getting a nice piece of varnished/polished wood to mount the gauges on? 1) means you could mount them straight and 2) be a nod to the Maserati opulence. Only needs to be big enough for the gauges to look good.
Stuff the haters!

I'm going to cover the dash. Wood isn't a bad idea but it's most likely going to be the same black fabric that's covering everything else in the car. The fact that the gauges aren't lined up, that's the least of my concerns. The type of person that is bothered by that, would never buy this car anyway.
The black wheels helped, covering the dash will help, I'll think about the seats, the Jetta seats don't bother me, you can't see them when you're sitting on them.. hahaha
