Great progress
I hope you don't mind me saying it but looking at that dash reminded me of my MKI dash in a Monza track car - fitted all the safety switches and buttons and then realised I could access any of them when strapped into the seat with a four point harness.
MKI rapidly became MKII
Also fitted an isolator switch in the Scuttle and first time I opened the bonnet with the engine running I sheared the key clean off!!!

Oh wow, good point. I forgot about that completely. I bet you can't reach those once belted in! I'll check it out. I built one like that once before- you couldn't get into the car without taking the steering wheel off and it was a single seater. There was no place to set the wheel except on the ground while getting in. Once strapped in, you couldn't reach the steering wheel! haha I fixed it, but very good point.

I really didn't want to make a "negative" comment so tried to make it constructive and I've done the same myself made something look great but functionally useless and I really think in something that is going to be "tracked" I'd want everything "safety" to be in easy reach. I was bloody glad I did do MKII on my Monza as when I stuck it on the roof the shut off for the engine and fuel pump were the first things I hit. The next thing I hit was the harness release - yeah right thing to do but I didn't consider the "oz" senario - upside down it's real fast exiting the seat - ended up like a sack of spuds tied ugly on the roof!!!

Yep, no worries. People needn't be afraid to hurt my feelings or be negative. I won't take personal offense to it. It's totally cool. I welcome the comments, I love 'em. I may not always take advice, but people can feel free to say what they want. It's all gravy baby and you had a good point. I sat in the car as if I were strapped in and yeah, I can reach everything. Whew!

I will say this; it's not that warm out yet, but by the end of the day it's not bad at all. Same as everywhere, probably. This winter has been a long one. The transmission is in and the driveshaft is getting sent to a shop for proper balancing. There's lots of little welding jobs left to do on it, from under the car. It had to come outside so that I could use the garage for our daily driver's routine maintenance. Once everything is bolted into the car and all of the fabrication work is done- it'll get a quick test drive, then I will dismantle it and prep it for paint. It's probably 2-3 weeks from that point, because of work. And you know what? It's starting to grow on me, this thing. I don't completely hate the looks of it anymore. I mean, it's got a long way to go before it starts to look reasonably cool, but I can see the picture at the end. It's a bit blurry mind you, but I can see it. Regardless of the final color choice, the low budget interior and whether or not it gets a plastic hood scoop or not- this will be one of life's little triumphs for petrol heads everywhere. Take something that is abandoned and rotting, that quite possibly should have been left to do just that, rescue it and begin to assemble a mash up of parts which when finished might make high dollar professional car builders laugh, backyard builders jealous and guys that don't know which end of a screwdriver to use, simply astonished. The end result is yet to be seen, the finished product is merely a glimmer in the eye of it's creator. It's the words typed on the Maserati forums bashing the build to bits and the cheers from crazy people across the globe that make every cold day, every bleeding knuckle and every welding burn worth it. When the engine fires to life and the gear selector goes from P R N into D, that's when the real celebration begins. The people that said it'll never fit, it'll never run or shouldn't have been built in the first place, can shake their heads in disbelief or disgust as it barks it's tires to shreds. Because mark my words, it will do just that. I know the RR'ers will be smiling.

F*** the haters, this thing is cool as Wait till you got it lower and sitting all mean! They do look good, well at least I find them very handsome indeed. I haven't driven mine in almost two months and I'm getting withdrawal symptoms.

+1
I vote for Old English Cheese orange paint, though. Maybe slightly darker. Not burnt orange.

As I keep saying...awesome!!!! As for the haters...screw them. You had a vision and by God youve seen it through. Respect sir!!! And in all honesty those that say it couldn't be done say it because they lack the skills and or vision to do it!!!! You would be amazed what 2 guys over here in the UK are doing with an early Mini from the 80s and a Toyota Celica 4wd turbo. People said that couldn't be done...but they're doing it. Will gladly share the YouTube page with you if you want a look on cold winter nights.

This really is a cool time to be building things, the 'net brings people together. Awesome!

And here is a V8 Maserati Biturbo Update: The rubber strips have been removed from the bumpers. I'm going to fill the recesses left by the removed strips, so that they will be smooth. I'll 'glass in new turn signals (indicators) and make them flush mounted. I pulled the bumpers completely off the car so I could repair the rusted brackets. I sanded the car down (flatted) to bare metal in a bunch of spots, to see how bad it really is, and it's pretty damn good. I have several small patch pieces to do plus weld the bracing in under the car. The car has 30 year old baked on, cracked enamel paint, so I have no choice but to sand the whole thing down to bare metal. No problem, the stuff practically falls off anyway. It's the wet season around here, so I sprayed some primer on the sanded spots, so it wouldn't rust. I think the hood scoop is not needed. I'll have to run the engine in the car to see if it hits the bonnet. I think it'll miss it. I'm working on a deal for the rear spoiler/wing. If someone sees a cheap wing that would look cool in the meantime, post a link so I can have a look at it.

Great work as ever, its great to see it getting closer to finished. Wing wise it really depends what your finished vision of the car is going to be. Do you want not overly subtle like the BMW E36 M3 GT win: A subtle lip spolier Of complete silliness: The choice is yours!

Just my 2p, but I think you want to avoid anything too curvy or rounded. There's only four curves on the car, so stick with that. Something like this, scaled up or down to suit your desire for subtlety or shoutiness maybe -

I am astounded at this build. Ingenuity, lunacy, perseverance and vision in 13 pages of inspiration. Really looking forward to the finished article. I woukldn't worry too much about the $20 rear tyres. They won't be around for long !!

And yes- those 20$ tires? Hahaha, those are going up in smoke first chance I get!

It's amazing what a little warm weather will do to your motivation. I was going to wait a week to make the next update, but I just couldn't. Here's a sample from the many pics I took today. I'll be ordering struts this week and getting this ready to go back on the car. I now have the car up high enough to do all the welding underneath. I will try to hold off so that I can do one big update later this week.
