I'm buggering off to Ireland tomorrow... ten days without RR. What was I thinking/drinking when I thought I needed a holiday? I`ve just come back from there and trust me, you won`t miss it - just too much amazing scenery and fantastic roads to take in ;D My first time across there but wont be the last....... .although next time I`ll take a bike or the Kadett and stay away from main roads

I'll be putting my yellow Rapid back together as I have it back from the paintshop now. . I dismantled it over a year ago so it might be easier to try and put Humpty Dumpty back together again instead! I love my cars.

We Had a Rental 1.2 Polo and it was ace.... ;D Thrashy motor but a surprising amount of Go to it Yumps well too but if you are intending to make the most of the rental experience ;D then take the optional full insurance Landing ours on its nose after a decent yump scraped the front bumper and popped the side grills out somewhere around Connemara ;D (well I think it was there - I was having too much fun at the time to stop )

Prestatyn Classic Show on Monday, assuming it doesn't chuck it down. Tomorrow and Sunday I'll be trying to build up a gearbox to get my mate's Beetle out of the way, so I can get my Split out of the container that's costing me £80 a month and into what's left of my garage... it's cost me over £500 so far. Terrific.

Just been up to Telford and collected these rims; If anything they are even better than they looked on the Ebay pic. £25+ 78 miles' worth of SWMBO's Fezzer-juice FTW ;D Over to Pop's later to sift through his stockpile of 14" rubber and munch my way through a mahoosive BBQ'd steak.

So far today I've red oxidededed most of the rest of the fastback, just half the roof to do but I'd done the door first, and was leaning in wet paint to reach so I'll finish it in a little while. And touch up the marks I left on the door Luckily it's just a blowover to get it all one colour, I really don't care about runs and drips and it being smooth. I've even noticed the 500ml cans I bought from the motor factors today (£3.44 plus vat, how cheap??) are a different shade to the Halfords ones I started with, oh well! Continuing the paint theme, I promised the good lady I'd repaint the door on her mongdeo, after I put a secondhand scratched door on, after I hit the original one on a trolley bay. It's only taken about 18 months to get around the finishing what I started (by crashing)! Currently have first skim of filler on the deep scratch, have got as far as 800 grit and I'm about to go back outside and put a coat of primer over it to see how flat it is. If I get that done by tomorrow, I may well continue with the task and get the little tiny rust blebs sorted on the arches and bonnet lip before they turn into whacking great holes. Back on a retro vibe, gonna trace the source of the waterfeature in the fastback. Have blocked the fresh air vents up, yet last week's storms have recreated the posieden adventure in the footwells after it was perfectly dry so I'm starting to think door seals are iffy. Then I've got two new winder mechanisms to fit to it, the drivers currently goes up but not down and the passenger goes down but not up. Then assuming the water issues are fixed, I might start getting the interior sorted - measure up for some carpet (or just bite the bullet and pay Spirit of the 50's), and get some final coat paint on the dash and the dash top fixed in place. Will add to my readers wive's thread the results of all this good intention. Apart from the mongdeo paintwork, i wouldn't expect anyone to give a curse word about that!

I'm planning on firing up my Golf for the first time in 18 months (!) Excellent - good luck with it! ;D Stick some redex or similar down the plug holes if possible, disconnect the king lead from the dizzy and crank it over a little on the starter to prime the oil pump before re-attaching the lead so it can start up. Also - do it nice and early one morning, the neighbours love the sound of a lightly baffled exhaust and four branch manifold with their breakfast!
