Full fenders, high cab, nice and low at the front, ratty as anything and brightly coloured wheels are making this just about perfect to me right now, even in its unfinished state.

I think it looks good without the grill shell but I want to fit the bonnet so can't stay like this I had 4 different steering columns kicking around including the original but the one that seemed to fit best was this Mk1 discovery column that came from the same motor as the engine The lower column shaft is also disco and was easily cut down to the right length, all I had to do to connect it to the jimny power steering box was swap the bottom spline and rubber damper for an SJ. It all just bolted together which was surprisingly easy

Wow, that all happened a bit fast!
I adore the way this sits.
Keep up the pace!

I'm dipping in on this thread! love it. It's all about sticking slightly modern engines in to old hotrods! *high five* I can't wait to see it rolled out of it's hiding place to get a full profile shot sat on those wheels! Bet it looks ace. I will be keeping an eye on this thread. Ralph

I think this is going into my nominations for Most Anticipated for 2016 (although that is a bit of a cursed award! )

It will definitely (fingers crossed) be on the road in 2016, I've already got a road trip from Kent to pendine planned with a friend

It's nearly that time of year for staying indoors so that's where it is again A trial fit of me behind the wheel and it's actually quite a comfortable driving position and roomier than I expected even if it doesn't look it in the photo I always wanted to keep the original steering wheel so needed a way of attaching it to the disco column, I brought an aftermarket boss bolted a 3mm disc to it then drilled through the wheel and disc. Luckily the discs made by hole sawing the chassis were exactly the right size but the boss was a pain because it turns out I managed to get a Land Rover with an odd size column spline that was only used for a couple of years so the boss 3x the price, just my luck

Tight fit with the radiator too by the look of things. But then photographs can be very deceptive. Driving position is probably more comfortable looking with feet on the pedals too. Good stuff, all the same, getting to the point where you can understand where everything goes is a great stage in the project.

The start of a floor and yes that is a heater! How posh am I. Ignor the transmission tunnel it didn't turn out like I planned and will be replaced with wood. I found an old 103e pop gearlever when I demolished the rotten garden shed and it's now a model A gearlever, it must have been in the shed 15+ years Fuel tank back on at last The seat was so nasty even the mice abandoned it Mouse nest in the bin but the old wooden frame has been used as a riser for the new (used to be a table) plywood base

There's plenty of room for the radiator in the stock position and there should just be room for a fan as well

Less than 1000 miles a year Turns out I fitted the filter the same distance from the pump as Land Rover did as the pipes fit perfectly, I am never usually this lucky Now that's what I call an exhaust I think the garage door needs raising
