I did have a build thread years ago but all the photos are gone and so has most of what I'd done. I've recently resurrected the build after 4 or 5 years of it doing a good impression of a shelving unit at the back of my garage I'm on a mission now to get it on the road next year (I'd love to make it to Pendine as a spectator) but it's a huge job so don't hold me to it Anyway I'm going to start with a few photos of it as a stocker and add a few more each day till its up to date This is when I collected it after buying blind on eBay,it was a surprise to find it compleatly rust free I spent the time and a few quid to get it running and driving before selling most of the running gear to restorers. And then the fun stuff began.......

This is gonna be such a cool and very usable truck with a 300Tdi in it. Plus, there's plenty of tuning potential with the 300 as well. 25bhp extra with stock parts with a small wastegate and pump adjustment. I dunno what this weighs in comparison to a Discovery which is a tad over 2 ton. My old 300 Tdi with pump and wastegate adjusted went like a train. I would think this will go just as well, at a guess.

P.s, I'll have to try and make it if you're there next year and have a look at it in the flesh, especially as Pendine is only about 35 mins away.

madwelshman - have you got any info on tuning 300tdi engines? I can't find much apart from pump and wastegate adjustment, that's as far as most people seem to go. Not that I want to do a lot to it,I'd rather it be reliable and useable

He's on his third clutchplate now, it seems to shake the centre drive plate until the springs fall out, but really pulls well

Not that I want to do a lot to it,I'd rather it be reliable and useable I'll have a look and see what I've got. They do respond quite well to improved breathing, a bit of head work, smoothing things out a bit. The intercooler is 'ok', but a bigger one is advised if you're gonna crank the boost up a bit. Lightening and balancing the bottom end makes them much smoother as well, just don't take too much off the flywheel. Personally, when I can (eventually) afford a Landy 110, I intend fitting a VNT turbo to it. The pump is capable of supplying plenty of fuel, especially with slight modification. But what I'm really after is the turbo spooling up a few hundred rpm lower, because it will be used to tow my 4x4 trialer and it'll make a big difference. Will

It is noticeable on the road, especially if they've been opened up. The 200 will run out of steam sooner than the 300 when the turbo cannot produce enough boost higher up the revs. A 200 does spool up slightly quicker than the 300 though and is great for towing.

That will be a great daily. I live in Lanarkshire and about 18months ago, a few times, I noticed a young woman in the local Asda car park in a 1929 A 3 door saloon. It was straight, tidyish not overly ratty and no showpiece it was her daily driver!

Model AA, surely?
Or are you just keeping it simple for the non-buffers?! ;-)

Yes it's an AA but i just call it a Model A as not many people know the difference
The rear suspension didn't really have any travel because the springs were huge, it's just designed for carrying weight were as most model A's including pickups you see are based on car chassis and this is much much more heavy duty
