Hi all, my dad is considering selling his '84 early spec Cav CD hatch. I originally bought it back in January last year and got it back on the road after a few years in storage. I drove it for about 6 months then sold it to my dad who's been using it for the commute ever since.
In the 18 months it's been back on the road we've covered around 27k miles in it between us - and no, that's not a typo! I've taken it to the VBOA meet at Billing twice so some of you GM enthusiasts may have seen it parked on the bank in the Manta club field. General condition is very good - the body is a little scabby in places, most notably the door bottoms and a little bit around the sunroof which has recently started leaking due to the seal disintegrating. Mechanically the only real issue I'm aware of is the near side CV joint knocks on full lock, very annoying as I fitted a recon driveshaft about 12 months ago. It's currently on Manta 13" alloys but the original cross spokes are still around. Total mileage is around 122k but the engine is great, gearbox is a little notchy on the change but never been a real problem.
It's definitely had a new brake master cylinder, new rear drums, shoes and cylinders, a brand new alternator, a timing belt and water pump change 22k miles ago, a brand new rear box, new clutch cable, and probably a load more stuff I've forgotten about.
It's a great car but we'd like it to go to someone who'll appreciate it as more than a daily hack and get it back to its best. To that end, I have another mk2 hatch here in bits with a near perfect set of doors, excellent gearbox and many more useful bits left on it which will be available to anyone interested in the car - take what you want with the good one and I can get on with scrapping what's left!
MOT runs til March some time, tax is no longer transferrable as you all know. £900 takes it.
