Your right haha should have googled the pump before I spoke but still same diagnosis. I've a triumph Toledo. My threads on here. Very similar car underneath, as are most small engined 70s beasts! I swapped my rear axle to a much lower differ one for better cruising revs, could be an idea for you unless you are definitely swapping out to newer engine. If you swap the axle remember to change out the speedo drive haha I haven't yet and it's waaaaay out. I'm gunna watch this with interest!

She lives!! Spent £100 in total on parts, first thing I changed (£10 starter solenoid) and now runs like a dream. Well at least I've got a load of spare parts now  Now just to sort this stupid blowy exhaust out, possibly get it sprayed (or even wrapped?) back to it's original green, carpet, fix the bonnet catch and stow her away for a rainy day! |

I had an identical one of those limited edition viva 'S' models until someone screwed the welding for me a few years ago then it had to go and I was looking at this from last two previous owners.
Guessing you don't realise this is an incredibly rare viva model and one of only a hand full left with this just about the only one left on the road.
The colour is called tropic green starfire.

Guessing you don't realise this is an incredibly rare viva model and one of only a hand full left with this just about the only one left on the road. The colour is called tropic green starfire. can make that two left on road in a few weeks. would be nice to see how many viva s are left. heres mine let me no if don't want it on your thread mate an will remove  |

Wooooah I never knew that! Thought it was just run of the mill?! I'm glad I'm sending it back to original now :-) It's getting a full respray back to it's original colour, thankfully they never touched past the glass so it'll be an easy/cheaper job. She'll be up n running tomorrow!! Waterpump has now totally crapped it's pants and the knock-on effect of that lead me to believe something major had gone wrong with the engine. Sunday night the exhaust on my VX490 failed to exist and fell away in pieces, Monday morning it just about got me to work and then died as I pulled onto the drive (alternator wires had destroyed themselves) so this forced me to use the Viva for work on Tuesday morning. Tuesday morning the Viva failed to get me to work as it was constantly cutting out and losing water like it was allergic to the stuff! After a bit of swearing and experimenting I chucked a small capfull of water into the fan and just that little spray of water cut the engine out! So now I've bought a nice ebay special Waterpump for just under £40 delivered. There was some going for less than £10 but it just didn't feel right... Started swapping the pump over today and I spent most of that time looking for my 11mm spanned lol. It'll be finished tomorrow and hopefully look a million times better than this mess!!  |

I've got the Vauxhall colour codes here but mine looks more of a Bright Starfire than Tropic - Opinions anyone?!   Also whipped off the Waterpump today and I could see where it was leaking from (centre and a massive gap where a gasket used to live...) The new pump was quite rough around the machined faces edges so I had to spend some time filing it down again but it wasn't any bother. Sealant came with the kit rather than gaskets so I applied fairly generously to both faces. Got the pump all bolted up then had to depart for my baby boys christening! So now I'm just about to head back out in the dark and rain to complete and drive shortly    Took forever to clean that little big of surface due to the bonded old parts of gasket, rusty Stanley blade and muck all over the shop! |

All is well! It's had a few little upgrades and it's running even better than better than before! Little noiser too ;-) New starter! Evidentially this was my problem, original one is the one from the factory! Put it on a battery and it kicked up and spun like a muddafecker but still changed it regardless...  Earth wire looked a tad naff too so here comes shiney new beefcakeness  Exhaust went on quite well. Didn't use half of the parts provided some how  Had to 'banana' one long straight pipe but that's it.    Then onto the morning, I tried to tackle this drooping of my drivers side (no fat joke please, Christmas was a hard time on my metabolism) Got another spring donated by my fellow local Viva brother.  But unfortunately it didn't cure it... Any ideas?! |

Where did you get the exhaust from , sounds wicked. I'll have to ask my pal who bought it originally. Less than £110 delivered! No welding necessary!! I did however have to heat and bend (90 degrees) the two suspending brackets as they weren't very functional as they were... |

Hi all. Had my Viva stolen at 3am this morning.
By 10am I had her back home but missing the wheels and the log book...
Wheels - expensive but not a major concern
LogBook - I need advice on... What can they do with the log book? It's the full V5...
Any help would be great please!

You need to report the log book to the DVLA and get a new one issued. That will make the unique ref on the original register as null and void. They may try to 'ring' another stolen one and sell it with your V5.
