My Nissan Primera will be fine with some winter tires on. 60km commute on the highway without and hills to speak off, but I will take a blanket and something to eat and drink. Funny you should say that, i had a primera sri, normal cheapo tyres, worked fine the snow. The only readon i couldn't get it off my drive was the hopeless idiots on my close who insisted on driving down the middle of the rd which caused the snow ruts to freeze overnight, and the Primeras low clearance would not get over them to turn intol the rd off the driveway! My current 406 hdi estate is a pain in the neck when it snows, As has been mentioned before, experience is crucial. When i was a lad ( cue hovis music) we had a good snowy winter every year. Everyone gained experience, nowadays the combination of less snowy conditions, and modern driver aids fool 'non car types' into thinking they are able to drive at their normal pace.

One or two newspapers are saying worst winter in a 100 years for the UK, and as we speak the USA is starting to get icy blasts moving down from the north down towards the gulf of mexico. Considering it is starting to look like bad weather for us over here, and remembering what mods the car companies let alone the owner of cars did to them in the past (advert below as an example) What mods do you think will crop up an rear their ugly head? Even worse would they be trying to fit them to a modern car! 23 degrees yesterday, hottest Haloween ever, I think worst winter, they don't know what it will do tomorrow

On account of the source of the prediction being the tabloid press/some other meteorological agency I won't hold my breath. That said, common sense would dictate that the usual appropriate checks and measures are observed.
I won't be selling the L200 yet though, in case at some point I can't get to work and need to spend the downtime travelling on fun-related business.

Living in sunny Greece has its advantages But staying in the spirit of the thread. I fit at set of 16"s with snowtires to the daily Octavia Scout when going up the mountain to snowboard

I was going to say nothing, but with both doors freezing shut this morning, then the inside of every window also being frozen... Maybe I should replace all the missing grommets in the bulkhead, seeing as rainwater goes straight through. Also need to block some of the rad as it doesn't get fully up to temperature, even after a 12 mile drive. Funny that, engine renowned for over heating, won't get warm, figures.

Plans have changed. Granada decided to act all seasonal by turning itself into a premature bonfire. New plan involves a Cinquecento with the handbrake button pinned down and a stupidly dangerous polished fibreglass sled I made.

Here's the view from my bedroom window. That's how it will stay. I value the triumph too much to have someone slide into me.
