Year 2000 S6 saloon in Goodwood Green, MOT till Jan 2015, went through the last one without even an advisory. Just over 138K miles, but will go up as I use it daily. Loads of Service History and comes with 3 keys (flip key, valet key and emergency plastic one)
All the standard S6 goodies:
- 4.2, 40 valve V8 (344bhp, 420nm torque, 60 in around 6 secs, limited to 155mph)
- 5 speed Tiptronic gearbox - fully auto, change with gearstick, or change with buttons on steering wheel
- Leather/Alcantara Recaro Interior. Front seats fully electric for adjustment with adjustable lumbar support etc, both fronts and rears heated. Rear has armrest/ski hatch
- Alcantara Headlining (including pillars, parcel shelf and sunvisors) to match seats - apparently a £2500 option when new!
- Built in sun blinds in rear doors
- Electric sunblind in rear windscreen
- Xenon Headlights
- Bose sound system including built in subwoofer in boot
- 6 disc changer, built in Sat Nav & TV
- Real Carbon Fibre interior trim
- Auto dimming mirrors. Being the S6, the wing mirrors are solid Aluminium & electrically folding
- Sunroof
- Dual Zone Climate Control (works perfectly, was regassed about 12 months ago & is Icy cold)
- Cruise Control
- Wide bodied (the S & RS have wider arches than the other C5 A6s) with Aluminium front wings & bonnet
There is probably other things I have forgotten too - there are plenty of toys/features to remind you that you are not driving a poverty wagon!
All the usual advantages of a C5 - Massive boot (at least 3 bodies would fit in there, without even dismembering them) and loads of space on the inside. Even with a full car of 5 blokes, you can do distances without people getting uncomfortable.
A few subtle modifications:
- Genuine Allroad aero wiper arms and blades
- Facelift front grille, badge & rear badge fitted
- Stratmosphere induction kit and heat shield, just to release a bit of V8 roar
- RS6 Bilstein PSS9 Coilovers (Nearly £2000 in themselves!)
- 18" BBS LM Replicas
- Facelift rear numberplate tub
- Pressed plates & Audi Centre Ingolstadt Number Plate Surrounds
Service History:
Absolutely loads of it! Recent or Big Highlights include -
- Cambelt, tensioners, waterpump & Aux belt - July 2014
- All brake discs, pads & calipers either serviced or replaced in last 12 months
- Full service in March 2014
- Alternator done end of 2013
- Gearbox (can be the Achilles heel on these) was replaced with brand new by Audi back in 2006, and was serviced with new fluid & filters etc in 2012. The box changes nice and smoothly, quickly and kicks down perfectly.
Bad bits:
They all have some, but not many on this to be honest -
- Bodywork is overall good, but it is 14 years old, so there is the odd dint etc. Worst bits are a few stonechips on rear arches (treated and touched in) and the front bumper, which could really do with a respray if you are fussy, as is a bit stonechipped.
- Crack in lower drivers side corner of windscreen. Has been there since I bought it and gone through MOT with no problems. I was going to do it on my insurance if it failed the MOT or got worse, but it hasn't.
- Passenger door sometimes doesn't close fully on first go (I may have sorted this soon anyway, as I know what the problem is, just haven't had time to sort recently)
- Usual pixel loss on dash, but not too bad compared to other Audis I have had.
What else can I say about it - it is probably the best car all round I have owned, but I get itchy feet easily. I was only going to keep it for 6 months or so to scratch the V8 itch, but have had it over a year now.
Nicknamed 'The Hulk' by my friends (it is big, green and angry) it absolutely destroys motorway journeys in comfort and with plenty of 'go' - It doesn't even notice hills with the torque, even 5 up and a boot full of curse word!
It makes you feel like a gangster, and the V8 rumble drops panties (or boxers!) at 500 yards - I will genuinely miss it. I will just leave these here for your inspiration:
Can be viewed in either Cardiff, or the West Midlands, as I split my time between the 2 for work
I am asking £3500 for it - (I know people like to haggle, I don't actually want £3500 for it, but something just north of £3K would see it going to a new owner ) - I am not in a rush for it to go, I love it to pieces, but I fancy a B5 S4, so happy for offers, but bear in mind that I don't mind holding onto it for longer before you offer me £500 and a manky fiesta!
It is a lot of car for the money, and looks a lot more expensive than it is (I think the C5 has aged well personally). Every now and again, they do come up cheaper - I bought an avant for £2500, however, that one is now sat on my drive on axle stands with a spun conrod bearing! This one has been well looked after, has good history and drives spot on, with big jobs such as the cambelt all done recently. They are actually very rare - there are more RS6s around. If you look on Pistonheads etc when they actually come up for sale, they seem to be anything between £3K and £6K when they do come up, so I figure the price is probably about fair. Beware of C5 4.2 V8s masquerading as S6's - they are nice cars in their own right, but are not quit the same, and I have seen a few badged up as S6s floating around.
I might be interested in swaps/px - I really fancy a nice B5 S4 avant, but might be happy with a px for something cheap with cash my way, as long as it has a decent bit of get up and go to it (thinking 1.8T golf/A3 etc, perhaps 1.9tdi) that I could use while I find an S4 and then sell on easily.
Mods - apologies if you don't think this is interesting enough for the main for sale pages - feel free to shift to the boring section!
Any Questions just shout, PM on here or on 077three8 26five81nine
Cheers
