Sorry to drag an old thread up but here it is
I'm currently fine turning my ford escort mk3 rallye sport turbo engine, for those who don't know what it is, its a carb turbo cvh engine offerd in kit form in 1980-83. It was the brain child of bill meade then head of ford motorsport, it was a 32/36 DMTL carb, an Airesearch oil cooled turbo, air to air intercooler and a special lucus dizzy with advance and retard built in, an electric fuel pump.
So, I'm having trouble after 3500 revs, it comes on boost at 2200 spot on but goes flat. My next step is to put a 1 bar fuel pump on to increase fueling. Has anyone got an idea of what the timing should be set at? Because the engine is 80% cvh, the timing is 12 deg btdc, does this have to be retarded down to say 8 deg? Any hints on carb turbo engines will be grateful
