Swapped my golf for this and so far really liking it, it's not a bmw I know but it's good on fuel. It's a 1.9 D Turbo. Stuff I've done:Smoked indicators Phase 3 headlights Plans:Lows (obviously) Private plate Respray Wheels Not doing anything engine wise yet. Treated it to smoked indicators so swapped them over [emoji14] Few sceney pics Phase 3 lights turned up today, fitted my players sticker and it's booked into Constella for lows on Friday, got 60mm springs for the front And that's it so far..

Agree, these are great cars and are starting to become rarer, I think snobbery is the real thing not welcome here thank you.

Back to the car, looks really tidy mate. Good ones are hard to find, especially in 3 door D-Turbo spec, and with a straight rear beam which yours looks to have. Fit a boost gauge, increase the max fuel until you have some black smoke and then adjust the wastegate. Even 18-19psi will make a huge difference to power and driveability, you can go further but you run into issues with heat soak, head gasket failure and turbo death without other mods. I've had 5 of these and usually 19psi will give you about 115bhp and improve fuel economy.
Have a look on 306oc.co.uk, loads of info on tuning and modifying there, and you won't get as many negative pissy comments from the lords of retro.

Wow, in all the time I've been on here and considering all my other cars have been retro, didn't see a problem, I was asked to put up a build thread so if you don't like it, don't read it.. The_Liam cheers dude, I'm already on there, not touching the engine for a while as only had it a few weeks but black smoke is on the list

Deleted some posts in here... the usual rules apply if you don't like it, don't post. I notice also those that posted negativity in here have hardly posted anything on all the other cars in this section, which says a lot about their hateful attitude towards other car enthusiasts. Hope it turns out nice Gem, your previous cars have been cool

Nice, I had a green HDi DTurbo a few years back, it flew when it reached 175bhp. No smoke, no poke.

I had a very early phase 2 gold (blaze 'yellow') ... Best car I have ever had, did nearly 60k in 3 years in it, (until a drink driver crashed into the side of it, writing it off!) Brilliant cars, yours is exactly the same as mine was (except the colour) with the phase two, little upgrades I found make all the difference, silver centre consol, changing the speedo surround and needles for the sliver, makes it look so much more modern inside, Keep the pictures and updates coming!

I to had one of these when young.
Deleted the back box with a straight pipe. Popped a cone filter on with a cold air feed ( the standard snorkel likes to suck up water ) and uped the boost.
Fitted some 307 front breaks. They bolt straight on and are so much better.

I always wanted one of these when I was younger, but it was a car I never bought. Looks a clean example, looking forward to seeing how this progresses.

Didn't get lows, everything was seized and ran out of time, bought a new rear axle and having it delivered straight to the garage so he can have a play, so not lowered for players annoyingly

It's not uncommon for them to be seized. Though it all depends how the garage set about lowering it , just have to hope that the new beam is in an easier to dismantle state.

I've decided against lowering it, ordered a new rear axle but just gonna include everything in the sale.
