I found double sided tape and rubble sacks were ideal, and easy to make. For the rear door cards you should be able to make a pattern from cardboard or paper without needing to source a spare card, the shapes are very simple and they're flat sheet so it's just a case of offering the template up a few times to get all the fittings in the right place. I can mock one up quite easily but I want the original chrome strips back with the proper clips etc to finish it off nicely. I don't fancy a stick on jobby...

I think I may actually go for a large roll of floor/carpet protection... Super sticky one side and I'm pretty sure it'll have membrane properties! Probably pinch some off a job too, need to save pennies where I can

Actually, that's a really good idea. Understood on the missing chrome trims now too, I'd overlooked that important bit.

Yea well I tend to put a lot of effort in to doing things right (even if I don't know what I'm doing) especially when it's going to directly reflect on myself! It's always good to hear suggestions though, keep em coming!!

Are you sure the rear seat is wrong? To be honest they fit really well... I wonder if I'm being thrown off because they're wrapped in late 70's looking vinyl?! Would anyone be able to identify them?!

Ignore the cover and patter, look at the fit - when you compare them to other Mk2 rear seats, how do they compare? Don't forget that Consul Mk2 seats were the same basic frame, just with less luxurious covers.

I know they're definitely not from this car or even the same model...

The only difference between the Consul, Zephyr and Zodiac Mk 2's was at the front and the back. The passenger compartment, doors, glass etc was identical. There were about 4x as many Consuls made as Zephyrs or Zodiacs. The front inner and outer wings on the six cylinder cars are around six inches longer than the Consul's wings, and the ends of the rear wings were a little different.

So does this mean I could get a door card from a consul?! Yes, it would fit the door perfectly. The cover would be different - have you looked at Aldrifge Trim's web site? However, if you're pulling the cover off to make your own cover, it makes no difference which model the door card comes from, the doors are identical, so the holes in the door card will be in the right place.

It's annoying because I can quite easily make the card myself, I can re-do the vinyl myself, but I desperately need the chrome strip! It's stopping me in my tracks! Lol Without that I can't lay any vinyl because of the two tone

I've looked but I don't think it'll be right... Won't have the right bend in it nor the clips that hold it into place. They've got pins going straight through that clamp down between the two vinyl colours

Have you tried Aldridge Trimming to see if they'll sell you the trim on its own?

By the looks of it they don't actually use the chrome strip, instead they pattern the vinyl to replace the chrome :-( I'll enquire properly when they're open!
