...use a laundrette?
...record to audio cassette tapes?
...have a black & white TV licence?
...live in a flat rather than an appartment?
...live in a maisonette rather than a split level appartment?
...use public payphones?
...have their milk delivered by a "milkman"?
...have only the 5 analogue TV channels?
and a more modern one...
...record music to CD in audio format? (how passe that seems now in the "iPod age")
I was just struck by this as I was sitting in the traffic ourtsidfe the laundrette wondering how much business they would get these days...

use a laundrette? NO, only once at uni ...record to audio cassette tapes? I was gonna for the car and probs will when I got MP3s on the pc sorted, unless somone buys me a big ipod for my BD ...have a black & white TV licence? no still a b/w somewhere though, a lovely 90's vintage JVC now the retro one blew ...live in a flat rather than an appartment? probably, whats the difference? 70's converted house that Jack built... ...live in a maisonette rather than a split level appartment? Flat that Jack buil with stairs. (virtually same level though, not like cavmads. ) ...use public payphones? No only when locked out, smeels of wee, and if you put credit card in its v expensive! ...have their milk delivered by a "milkman"? No but I want to, and will now I spotted him at 5:45am, and another this morn... ...have only the 5 analogue TV channels? did till a year ago, its a case of all or nothing though now I reckon, 4 or 5 GOOD one would be ideal. and a more modern one... ...record music to CD in audio format? (how passe that seems now in the "iPod age") yes, I even still buy CD's when I can afford, not the same owning (or stealing a 'file') don't know why.

...record to audio cassette tapes? I'll need to when I have the Skoda as my daily! I have done. Their invaluable when your mobile runs out of battery. Our next door neighbour does - we used to. yeah, and it sucks! My parents have digital downstairs though. Here is another one, does anyone go to the local "parade" of shops and get all their shopping from the little individual shops rather than going to the local ASDA?

Can i add:
...remembered someones telephone number
I had a hard time using the telephone box last week, the only number i could remember was my mum and dads, so had to phone them to get swmbo's mobile!!
...wrote an informal letter

Yes to:
Milkman.
Only 4 analogue TV channels (and the TV isn’t remote control – it was, but controller died so we change channels through the video).
I will be taping some vinyl onto cassette soon. Dug out all my old tapes recently to listen to in the Camry and Accord. MP3 and iPod, what are they then? I have never knowingly downloaded music in MP3 format, and I’m in no hurry to either.
I fear that children growing up may change this, but for the moment they’re young enough to not know any different.

Here is another one, does anyone go to the local "parade" of shops and get all their shopping from the little individual shops rather than going to the local ASDA? Yes I'm luckyish at the mo, cos we are near cool places. took us a while to convert, most stuff comes from a Organic (old skool) Co operative (think thats the right word) independent, and a mix of local shops. use them or lose them. we have better food buying heathier stuff, money better spent, and less risk of buing tat. and less waste, better local economy, and community.

I record onto cassette tapes and Minidisc! I love tapes, the audio quality on them is fantastic and they're utterly suited to use in cars as they're not as delicate as CDs. Minidisc I love because I consider it the evolution of the cassette tape. In my Mira I started with a tape deck (UK spec one they hastily shoved into imported Miras), went onto a Minidisc, went back to a tape deck (huge 2-DIN Addzest Japanese one), went back to the previous Minidisc, now back to tapes again (1-DIN Daihatsu Japanese one I got for 99p). Sometime in the future I intend to combine both audio greats by having a Nakamichi tape deck up top and Minidisc at bottom. I have the Minidisc already, just need the tape deck! The funny thing is I don't actually listen to music much whilst driving.
I use public payphones sometimes, I don't have a mobile phone - had one years ago but the battery died and I decided I didn't really like lugging one around everywhere anyway, with people being able to contact me wherever I am. I like the element of mystery, people will wonder whether I'm at work, home or Asda.

I'd love to have a milkman, so we could get yoghurts and all that jazz. But I dunno where you get them from. I mean, they don't advertise, do they. It's wierd. Its some kind of ancient unspoken thing that old people are 'in' on and young people have to go to tesco. Same with window cleaners I've lived in plenty of flats, and used the launderette loads Launderettes are ace cos you can get tons of drying in the dryers.

laundrettes are for washing duvets and sleeping bags cos they're too big to go in a normal washer. thing is with how cheap duvets are these days (unless you have feather) and how expensive laundrettes are, its cheaper to chuck it and get another than wash it!!

No to all I'm afraid. I lived a maisonette many years ago and if I mention the SHMBO's 'flat' on the Dockside then all hell breaks loose!! "It's an APPARTMENT!" (No it's freakin' not, it's a flat ) Does anyone still call quilts an 'eiderdown'? Some people don't know what I'm on about when I say this word.

my mum has only 4 channels, and she will do right up until the changeover, since as darwen is one of the last places to be turned to digital. il be living in a downstairs flat next year, student accomodation. used to record onto cassette, still got a cassette deck on my hi-fi. but i bought an adaptor that plugs into mp3/cd players and plays music off that through the cassette player in a car. genius. also still buy cds when i have money, so much better quality than everything. mum gets milk from milkman, wish i new one local in sheff, its so much better and lasts longer. i go to the market aswell to get fresh chicken/bacon/sausages and to get big t-cakes/breadcakes or w/e u wanna call 'em

all i can say yes to is:
recording tuneZ to CD writing the odd informal letter (a good 6 months since last one though!) and using the 'parade', ie shops in sidestreets, as without a coastline, my town don't have a parade!
