sorry for the o/t, but i have a question. basically i done something stupid andd brought some bike bits for my mini bobber project of a guy with a "bike breaking- all parts available" ad on ebay. I sent him a cheque for the bits and post (£70) he's cashed the cheque about 3 weeks ago, I spoke to him a week after he had cashed it by ebay message. said he had to get to the bank for money to post the stuff. I'm too fair for my own good and I reckon he's had it away with my money and done a bunk, I now also find he's no longer active on ebay (booted off?). I've got no email for the curse word or phone number, only the address I sent the cheque too. could anyone swing by the cads place and arrange to pick the items up and send them on to me for some dosh? if its gonna be agro, for christs sake DON'T DO IT. I don't want anyone put out or any vindictiveness, at the end of the day he might just be a retard with short term memory loss. it'd just be a bonus to get my parts and recoup some of the money, but it depends on the way the cookie crumbles. cheers, Edd and to keep it containing a retro pic, i spotted this. in a disabled bay no less

Hope you get it sorted dude If it was anywhere near me I'd be quite happy to pay him a visit and jog his memmory for him. JPS coloured Esprit FTW. I'm not suprised it's in a handicapped space, you ever tried getting in and out of one? Used to go drinking round the town with a mate who had one and it gives you serious back ache after a few bars, lol. ;D

cancel his cheque, they can be cancelled in the bank, and get your money back, after u get ur stuff though, i was told cheques can be cancelled up to something like a year after they have been cashed, maybe on internet banking i don't know, try goin in to ur bank though if u don't do internet banking.

thanks for the advice, kee might try that as a last resort, but I really wanted the bits so I can start the project in between the car work. after all, I paid him for the parts and should expect the parts.

I'm in Halifax. Unfortunately my car is out of action at the moment and I don't have any big mates that could give me a lift, but I'd be more than willing to do this. Let me have a word with my mate and see if he'll take me over - he actually lives a coupla mins down the road from the guy. I know that area a bit, I went to school in Illingworth and lived near there for a while. There are a few other peeps around too from Halifax - Ventorajay and TRG, where are you? TRG - come over and pick me up and we'll go as a posse.

IIRC you have 28 days to cancel a chgeque after its been cashed. It may be 30 or 31 days but its only around a month.

I'd go with cancelling the cheque. its safer. when my dad was in Hospital last year there was a scally from illingworth with shattered heels on his feet, why? co he'd sold a car in Halifax (for £100 ish iirc) and it was dodgy or the buyer thought it was, when the buyer came back into his house wielding fists, knives, (and poss gun) he jumped out of first floor window (with no shoes/trainers on) ! that was his side of the story anyway. at exactly the same time unrelated there were two scallys outside teh hospital entrence having cigs, with 24hr police escort at their side, after they had a stabing fight/attack....

Yup Illingworth can be a dodgy area. It's not too nice there. But lol, I've just looked up where turner avenue south is. Its in Furness, above Ovenden. Yeah, ummm, I'm busy this weekend and wont be able to do it Seriously, not a nice place.

Sorry, just a pity you don't have his phone number so you cant give him a verbal poke and suss if he's thiick, forgetful, or a full blown con! Let us know how you get on with taht cheque, but i reckon even sending the heaveys round would incur a charge. hope it gets sorted anyway.
