Thought I'd start a thread for my latest retro. It's a pre facelift bluebird and I'm the 2nd owner. Hadn't really moved for 12-18 months but with a charged battery it started straight up and went strait to my mates garage on its old fuel. As picked up. Apart from a jet wash to get rid off the moss all it needed was a new backbox to cure a blow and it went strait through an mot.

First thing was a new backbox which came in the form of a Peco big bore 4 which was a 99p bargain on eBay. Also got one of those funny drift/subway ring things which all the cool kids have;) Then began the hunt for wheels, being on a tight budget I was looking at A certain Lotus alloy aswell as slotmags when a pair of 16x8 banded steels turned up on eBay. So I bought them!

Bought a pair of non banded 16's for the front but upon receipt these turned out to be 15's so got a refund and was told to keep them so a freebie for the front! The fronts have smart car tyres on and the rears have 215's I think which are causing some rubbing in full bump. I bought some mk2 golf coilovers for the front but at the minute we've just chopped a coil and a half out. It's worth noting that all the pics I've taken are rubbish! As it was before the front springs were cut. Got a backflash from Ud-uk on here and am really happy with it. Got a cheap Taxi roof sign and a set of beaded seat covers and every 80's taxi needs a blank cd to ward away those pesky speed cameras;) Been to the Imm and Nats 40th so far and touched in the black lower flanks and resprayed the wheels. Really happy and all done on a non existent buget! The ride height still needs looking at although there's a crossmember that's hangs low where the gearbox is and the rear still needs work. Apart from that the only plans are running lights using the indicators on the front and to maybe tint the back lights and black out the rear number plate panel. Maybe fly eyes on the headlights? Maybe full taxi with a cb and meter installed!

Love it! What's the blank cd thing? Not heard of that? I have a cb rig here that maybe for sale (still not fitted it, so maybe better going to someone who may actually fit it and use it?)

It was claimed that blank CDs would reflect the flash of the speed camera, effectively blinding it, but of course it was complete nonsense.

Nice Bluebirds (Stanzas) were always unloved and unappreciated things yet used to be everywhere. Don't think I've ever seen one modified. Looks great

cool car, my gramps had one from new, regret never keeping it when he finished driving.
bit of a sidetrack but that 'woody' parked next to you is 'unique'.

The woody next to it is indeed 'unique'! Not much happened with this, just been enjoying driving an old car instead of my curse word corsa! Fitted a radio from a member of this parish Upon fitting it instantly looked out of place but luckily the original cover still fitted over it. Problem solved! Three things have become apparent whilst owning this 1. It's slow, and do I mean slow, it's fine once it's cruising along but getting there is an arduous task, a 1.6 seems woefully underpowered for this car which brings me to number two...... It's huge and even with the two tone takes an age to clean and wax and so far changes in weather have been a factor every time I try to clean it! But saying that the third is it will never break down. My corsa is defying me by continuing to stay alive so I can't buy something (anything) more fun, but this feels like it will laugh at the corsa when it's on the scrap pile and still be ok. I'm just fine with clocking up the miles and have a few little bits to get done. But all is good
