Help....
The extra weight of the 1108 engine on my Fiat 500 is causing the arches to rub on the rear tyres. Can anybody out there help me with an arch roller, I would be happy to part with a few beer tokens or can you recommend somebody to do it?. I'm in N/W london / Middlesex area.
Thanks
Nigel

Slater made one to use on his metro, search for his thread in the readers rides, there's quite a good pic of it in there of it but its an epic tread to search through.

ive read lots about keeping the wheels/tyres on and using a wooden baseball bat! apparently one holds the bat and another pushes the car backwards and forwards pulling the handle of the bat out till its stretched!! all the pics ive seen of this looks like very good results have been achieved. ive yet to try this myself but i will let you all know when i attempt this on my rover si

If you're in that part of Laandan, you can do a LOT worse than speak to the nice chaps at R-Tec in St Albans/Hatfield. Their arch rolling skillzorz are renowned, and pretty cheap to boot.

I am trying to do it on the cheap and without breaking the paint, I have a set of flared arches for the car which I am going to fit in the autumn which will involve tubbing the arches properly, lower springs – shallow winged sump etc so I need a quick (and cheap) fix for the summer.

if you're careful -and slow- you can do it with a small hammer from the inside while holding a soft block of wood on the outside. baseball bat is intruiging, but that might suggest you have too much gap between the tyre and arch the idea is you use the std wheels/tyres and when streatched fit the biggies.... si I know it works.. ive seen pics before/after and during.. great effects.. and somewhere when I was in the states,, said they use a baseball bat rather than a proper arch rolling tool because they get a batter roll that is more variable..!! #si

I figure if all goes pear shaped I can move onto plan B, tub the arches and use the fiberglass flares I have. Nigel

Quality clip! slinging the inner protectors back in could be a little issue, or maybe you just don't! worrying that he got the bar from beside the seat! crazy! also i'd squidge some wax oyl in there too.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Its easy. Cut a baseball bat in half-ish down its length so its got one flat surface. Jack the car up slightly. Put the baseball bat on the rearmost edge of the arch lip which is catching, with the handle sticking outside the arch. Let the jack down. Push the car forwards. Jack the car up, pull the baseball out a bit, let the jack down, roll the car forwards. Can be repeated as much as needed.

ahh, i thought you left the baseball bat whole so it could roll between the tyre and the wheel, hence "rolling the arches"??

wrong.
you don't cut the bat in half. it stays whole so it can roll between tyre and arch- infact you turn it backwards to make it roll along as you do it.
edit- ive just watched the weird J video and he shows how its done perfectly.

Oh lol. I did it on my old 106 worked perfectly with the bat cut in half? The full bat wouldn't fit between the tyre and arch tho.
