Hi everyone, It's MoT time, tomorrow at 11:30. I've done everything I can so now it's just up to the tester... please all start praying, sending positive vibes etc... Here's a picture of the scruffy but incredibly solid Orange Imp... Cheers Graham

Well mine is booked for this saturday 8:00am, I spent all last weekend checking it over and she only needed a set of new rear shoes. However When Tyding up the underside I did cut through my new brake hoses on one side, which was replaced last night at 11pm lol. The car will be stripped down after the MOT ready for 2 new wings and a full re-spray. A of a sily way round to MOT it before hand, but I did not want it looming.

I have used my awesome psychic abilities to look into the future and I, the great Shortcutio, have devined that your car shall be given unto it a fail sheet. And the red ink on the fail sheet shall form the words, "cheese sandwich left under passenger footwell, brake pedal movement impaired by stack of victorian pornography, excessive play in the alignment between Jupiter and your anus."
er well thats what I see anyway.

The Simca goes for its APK in thirteen days (oh no!), so I'll say a prayer and light a candle for every retro ride that's up for MoT's from now on!

I reckon the tester would have to be a curse word to fail a car that looks that clean and tidy! I've never had a car get through an MOT first time

JC, my 306 needed seven hundred quids worth of work to get through an MOT.
If your B needs anywhere near that amount of work I will eat my own body weight in wibblepoo.
Seriously.

:oWell, I reckon all the prayers, bats, goats and virgins were worth it. One track rod end is all it needs. And a bit of headlight aim. But that was recorded as too low, so I can do that up against a wall (OM!). And the brakes need adjusting up, but they're new shoes so I knew that anyway. I've already got the parts on order... so thank you everyone! Also the garage were brilliant - they said bring it back when it's done for a free retest ;D Mind you, they will get to do the tracking so it's fairy nuff. Here's some pictures anyway. First off a pic I did when I was bored at work (when I still had a work to be bored at). And here's the new doors that'll make it look even scruffier Cheers guys and good luck to all the other MoT's out there! Graham

The Audi lives! Failed first time on emissions, and a few non-functioning lights. A bit of fiddling with connections and I sorted the lights, a twiddle on the injection and all was good from the exhaust, et voila 12 months ticket It looks a bit of a shed but f*** me that 5-cylinder on a fairly open exhaust sounds good

WHHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
The BGT Passed, all the checks paid off and she sailed through.
MOT guys comment when it check the under side "Well it don't need anything doing under does it"
No advisors either, however on the way back Port 1 was missing a bit so probably a degraded Lead or plug, but all in all a wicked day.

Bringing this thread back, Charmant is in tomorrow. Erk! Have just fit new wipers and adjusted the washer jet aims, checked all my bulbs and other rudimentary things because I'm tight and don't want to fail on something daft. My betting is if it fails on anything, it'll probably be something suspension-related as it is a little worn out.

my tip is on older stuff check your brake pipes and hoses thoroughly as that is what i find on older cars especially at the rear where the pipes go around or over the fuel tank as its hard to see properly without the car on a lift. if you grease the pipes before test even if they are a bit scabby you most likely wont get a fail unless the tester is a curse word. a testers decision is not law and if you don't agree say so .the current training courses tell all new testers that if you are unsure wether a component is a fail then you should ALWAYS pass and advise!! on the other hand if someone brings a car to me and then tells me how to do my job i get a bit miffed , but the test is a minimum safety inspection at the end of the day not a beauty contest
