My baby. 2 owners from new with a huge history and totally original right down to the cassette player! Slowly tinkering repairing all the little niggles, the aim is to keep improving and keep it factory. It's never been painted or welded but will need some work soon tidying up the sills and rear arches. Last owner was a French interior designer who really loved the car, she spent a fortune keeping it tip top so mechanically it's really good. Also liked the fact it's never been stored, just covered low mileages (about 5k / year) as these cars really need to be driven in my opinion. Next on the list of jobs.. Bodywork (see above) Diagnose and repair faulty fan. Repair original instrument cluster (fit new odo drive gear kit and replace battery)

When a car looks this good out of the box why change it? Through the 70's and 80's Munich's design department just kept on nailing it, the 1602, 2002, E21 and E30 3 series and the 6 series were, and still are design icons. Besides, OEM is kinda my thing.

Not entirely original. The front lip spoiler has been painted I think, but looking good - particularly on its bottle tops. So many are on BBS it is rare to see a car on bottle tops now. The fan will just be a dead blower motor. We have good used available if required.
Can't beat an E30 convertible.

Looks like you've got yourself a really nice E30 there, lovely colour too.
I'm Aiming to keep mine as original as I can too, there are far too many chaved out wannabe drift car e30's today, It's a classic design and it doesn't need tinkering with.

That is a real thing of beauty...! Keeping this standard is definitely the way to go as it looks perfect just as it is. Just cut out the rust and then give it a darn god rust-proofing session and you're on a real winner... Lovely!

Nice to see some OEM appreciation out there. You don't see many Cirrus Blue cars out there, that said saw a ratty one this week only two miles from my house with a hardtop on... I want that roof! I haven't really done anything other than wash and wax that paint, will get round to a full machine polish and clay bar at some point as their is some light swirls on the car. That said I'm a valeter by trade and I've seen worse paint on cars 20 years younger. The bottle tops will be treated to a refurb at some point, really like the little fellas, helps the car stand out from all the BBS and Alpina shod cars out there. This one's definitely a keeper, few years back I had a low mileage 635 CSi manual (bought as a non runner for £900 and returned to the road for under £1300!) and got talked into selling it. I now couldn't afford another 635 as good as that one was, even a chavved up high miler goes for 4k these days. In my opinion E30's are now going the same way, if you want a cab, 318is or MTech now's the time.

I've been squirelling away parts and selling my Honda to give me funds and the E30 is about to go through a bit of a refresh. On Friday it's going to the bodyshop, the owner is a customer of mine and I will be helping as much as I can but I can't weld and whilst I can paint Stu the owner is like Michaelangelo with an air line and the finished article will just look so much better if left in his hands. I'll be doing prep as well as refurbing all the trim whilst it's off the car. After a good poke around it's pretty much solid so the plan is weld in new rear arches, sills are being stripped back, any minor repairs made and same with the rear valence where there's a bit of filler on one corner that needs tidying up. There's also a few other bits to go on. Fitted today, two decent OEM speakers as the old Pioneer ones above were shafted! It now sounds like a proper 80s stereo. I've also got a decent salvage boot seal rubber to go on the car, and a set of pressed plates. Oh, and I've also fitted a new front roundel today.

Now that looks better. Old one stashed away, if I ever sell the car I'll always have it as a souvenir.

Oh, and these arrived today. Well two of them anyway. The seller shipped them in two lots. Hopefully the others will arrive tomorrow. Just need some tyres now, and two more wheels. The bottletops are coming off for a well deserved refurb. They'll be the spare / winter / time to sell it set..

Dropped car down the shop yesterday, as you can see I left it in good company. No progress yesterday, it was my birthday and I went drunken horseracing at Lingfield. Few wins, travelled down in a Porsche Panamera and we met the world's luckiest man. About to head out today and get stuck in. The hangover's clearing and I'm sure a bit of noise and arc light will do it the world of good.

Magnificent ...... and I'm so pleased you're going to keep it stock ,that's what it desreves. I've seen so many interesting original cars here ( particularily BMW's ) that have been bastardised on stretched tyres with buckets of neg. camber ,left lanquishing on El Cheapo coilovers and then discarded and sold three months later . You're a lucky man ,look forward to updates.
