F*ck me I love cars like this, led ten different lives, no-one knows the mileage and been umpteen colours, but still going nearly 30 years later! And still being rallied! Wonder if that means police Imprezas will turn up at historic rallies in 2036?
My Xr4 is ex-federales, had at least one new front end, a couple of colour changes and its still got the rocker switch for what I would think were the blue lights under the bumper. I somehow doubt the 28,000 miles showing on the clock will be correct. Love cars that have been about a bit and had a few smashes`n`that.

I can't stop grinning, it's really weird to know that a car I have incredibly strong memories of as a kid went on to have quite a competition history, and is not only still around in gret condition, but is going to be rebuilt and actively used again ;D
I have just received more pics, I'll put them on tonight - can't do it from here in work!

I love history like this..... makes a cool car 76592% cooler! I'd be over the moon if some nutter (no offense Darren!) emailed me out of the blue to tell me the history of a car I'd just bought and it turned out like this

Fantastic thread, it's so often the case that we talk about an old car, then check and find out it's dead or in parts somewhere. That's excellent news and I'd be very chuffed with myself if it was my find... Now you need to email Steve at Classic Ford and suggest it as an article, I reckon it'd be a storming piece for next year when it's back out. Cool old pics and every owners story? Winner

Hey Darren,.. Any chance of getting this to RR07 .. make for a nice story Doesn't sound like it's going to be ready for then, but I'll suggest it! Bryn, RMad had a similar idea ;D I'll get on the case as soon as I'm back from Woerthersee! My Dad doesn't actually know we've found it yet... Want to see if I can surprise him with it when I have more pics and info - Will (current owner) suggested that we get him to pose in his uniform next to it to try and re-create my original pic, when it's running, sounds like a winner to me ;D

Oh! And another bizzarro co-incidence... Back in those days of the RAC it was based in Chester, and one of the transport sections took the cars almost literally past our front door. The pic of it 3-wheeling was taken at Knowsley Safari park, not far from me at all There's a crossing on the road, and every year I'd stand there, hitting the button when a rally car came, so it'd stop... I'd walk out with my 110 instamatic and take a pic ;D They never seemed to mind my 8-year-old antics, the pics always came out really bad though ;D Thing is, I'm semi-convinced that I have a pic of the car from then, you know when you think you know something? So when I get back from Austria I'm going loft-digging ;D
