Too much. Because it's all about 'points scoring' by the time you get that much stretch. I have stretch on my tyres, 215's on a 9in rim, which is as far as I want to go with it. Just looks cock-on without appearing ridiculous. you got some ics of these, what diameter/profile? I'm after putting 225s on a 9.5 ya see.....

Not a massive fan, but interesting to see.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I reckon they`d look great on a crazy show car of some sort, in the real world, well yeah perhaps a bit unworkable.

As lewis says - look a bit gash to me. That poke thing looks utterly mad.
Don't get me wrong I am the first person to admit to loving the saarf london look - but that's too far IMHO

Personally I don't like a lot of "poke". Stretch I like, but I think going too far just looks a bit sh@t. IMHO of course...

I'm not fully understanding the 'poke' bit. Is it just another term for stretched? Or is the poke the gap betwixt rim edge and tyre? I always think a stretch looks good on a higher profile tyre than a low pro. Looks okay to me, i'd probably go for the next size wider though if it was me, reckon that would look about right.

The main reason people do it is because they don't make tyres wide enough!!!

Poke = the low ET makes the wheels poke out of the arches, thus requiring narrow tires and stretching to keep the grip surface under the arch

I'm all for a bit of stretch, but once the sidewall is pulling away from the rim like that it's getting too far IMO. I doubt there are any benefits besides 'scene points'. Strikes me as a bit of willy-waving.

I like stretched tyres but thats taking the curse word a bit. Got 185/55s to put on my 8x13s so should look ok.

i don't like what seems to be poke...
i do like a littel bit of stretch.
but i've got to say, when it comes to mekanix, i like the car to be right, and i cant see that being legal/safe/roadworthy/beneficial. it looks cool but how does it corner? they're not built to be fitted like that either are they?

Right, here's my tin-opener, here's my can of worms, let's go... retrorides.proboards86.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1178209939You see, on this thread, the main point is that most of the cool styling things are based on racing, like alloys, lowering, spoilers, lightening, harnesses, etc... and for this reason I don't like stretch as I just can't see Formula 1 cars and/or world rally cars running with that much stretch... maybe I'm wrong... I love it a load of guy talking about "stretching" and "poking".
Don't these term seem slightly homoerotic?

That's a neat stretch. Enough to look deliberate (and cool), but not enough to warrant the police taking it back to their yard on a low-loader!
