Visited a customer today and on there drive was a mk2 escort which I later found out to be a Linnet ltd edition. On speaking to the lady she told me it was her car and her husband was always going to do it up, but sadly passed away this year and she wants rid of it but only to someone who would RESTORE it not break it. I had a quick look round it and found the strut tops to have rust spots on but not rotten, drip rails bad, needs front wings, 1 door, 2 back arches but theres 1 new one in car. so really the normal stuff, its on the DVLA data base but says on there 2 ltr but its not, its got a kent in so presume 1.3.
If you want to look at it message me. car is on Lincs / notts border 10 miles from Doncaster and Gainsborough. DN10 postcde

Very rare indeed...!!! I think it was a real 'last-of-the-line' special edition to shift as many Mk2's as possible. This really does need to be saved pronto...

My neighbour has one in almost new condition. It's not been on the road for 25 years....but it's coming back to life shortly. No rust, original stripes and interior still wearing dealer seat protectors!

Some other info glee ed elsewhere on the linnet and the two other special edition cars launched at the same time "A cosmetic update was given in 1978, with L models gaining the square headlights (previously exclusive to the GL and Ghia variants) and there was an upgrade in interior and exterior specification for some models. Underneath a wider front track was given. In 1979 and 1980 three special edition Escorts were launched the Linnet, Harrier and Goldcrest. Production, after an incredibly popular model run, ended in Britain in August 1980, other countries following soon after." Obviously heard of the harrier but not the goldcrest Wasn't there also some rare 4dr rs2000,s made too I seem to remember Quil google and very first hit is someone's goldcrest on here hahaa In my stated awkward colour (still nice just one of those odd colours IMHO ) retrorides.proboards.com/thread/90423/1980-ford-1-6l-goldcrest

Retrowrongun, If I get permission I'll take a few next time the neighbour's son-in-law is over. He's been getting it running again with a little help from me. Particularly exciting as I've just acquired a crossflow engined Westfield

There's a few ltd editions linnet, huntsman, capital and sure a few more,, the capital was a nice shade of light metallic pink,, hope the car finds a good home must be kept original, and I don't normally say that

My mate has one of these and they are very rare infanct so much so that there is not much info out there on them Your 100% right about there not being much information out there on them and that could be applied to all of the special edition MKII Escorts, the problem is that they were made in very limited numbers and so few survive meaning that most people have never come across them. The Harrier is the most common followed by the Linnet and then the Goldcrest theres about 4/5 Huntsman left but the Capital is pretty much extinct now.
