Right as y'all recall I sold my last Victor to a chap I know of old along with all my spares. As y'all also know he bunged the thing on eBay 2 days after he got it.
Now because he never came picked it up himself, he never signed the V5C and I wasn't too hassled at the time because it was going to someone I know from the old club scene.
OK, months have passed and I still have not got the address of the guy he sold it too. I get the impression he thinks he's done his bit by giving me the buyers email / ebay address. The buyer does not repsontd to me (a complete stranger!) asking for his address.
Car is still registered in my name...
Do I
1. do nothing and if anything ever comes of it tell the DVLA I posted the docs off and if they never recieved them thats not my problem
2. declare the car as scrapped to the DVLA.
3. write/phone/email and admit whats happened?

Write to the DVLA giving them your buyers name and address as the new keeper. Never mind about the signature or the fact that he sold it on to someone else straight away. Tell em the logbook was lost when the car was sold. Yer man sounds like a right licker anyway, hopefully he'll get some free hassle off the clueless taffs

Ah, I don;t actually have his address either. I know him as one of those people who you always bump into at shows / email a few times rather than someone who you go round their house and such.

why not contact the new owner, informing them if they don't get in touch within 7 days - you will declare the car as scrapped

Then declare it scrapped Let someone else worry about proving why it wasn't - get its liability away from you

I'm assuming that he's paid you and not picked the car up. In that case, sell it again!!

Contact the bloke you sold it to and ask his address. Send the V5 there and make it his problem. Can't believe the new owner bought it off eBay with no log book though, that's plain stupid.

the car had been collected.
I sold the Ventora with no log book as I genuinely couldn't find it when the geezer turned up. I found it about 3 weeks later and sent it on.
I can't think of many cars I've bought with no log book which weren't intended as donor cars.
I believe I know who the buyer is.
I might try an approach through a mutual friend if it is.

don't declare it as scrapped, you should only do that if the car has been put beyond use and has been effectively destroyed. When the car resurfaces the DVLA will wonder why you said it was destroyed when it wasnt!
Ive had a similar situation with a mk1 fezza I sold. Guy wrote his address on the new keeper supplement but not on the V5, so after he had gone I didnt have his name or address to declare him as the new owner. I wrote to the DVLA telling them what the situation was and how I no longer owned the vehicle. I told them that Id sold it to someone called "steve" and that was all I knew, never heard anything back. This was before the continuous registration flannel thats going on now where you get fined for curse word all.
