Well how of I start My wife wanted another campervan after we scrapped our transit I wanted a type 2 having worked on loads knowing what there like The wife wanted a more reliable type 4 The basic list were Diesel Auto Bed Fridge Cooker Well I shamelessly rob the first couple if pics from the for sale add As when we got to view the van a couple hours were wasted deciding if the van would make it the 250 miles home And an hour trying to get it started lol The white is stone chip covering filler Now eliane and her farther we got the van off was very helpful and rather upset at the same time When she gave us the key she explained that the garage had lost her key and that's why it took 3 months to give van back I believe she was ripped off And the kept the van 3 months as the mot was bent lol Why do I believe this ill explained now After saying our goodbys it was decide we would try and get a battery on route home as one in van was done in That was ok but after a few miles the battery moved a little and we pulled over Took battery out found this So checked all fluids wedged battery in and moved on At a steady 50 -55 and stoping a few times checking fluids and topping up on way we made it home in just over 6 hours On route

Good luck with what ever you do with this. I'm a big fan of the j - van owning a mitsubishi l300 that I'm currently converting to a camper. Out of interest did I see this heading south on the M5 the other week ?

Glad to see this has gone to a good home, I drove Urvans back in the '90s and there not bad apart from cooking your leg as you drive!

I like the look of these vans..and this one has potential.. but I must ask this one question Looking at the pics and reading what you have said about a suspect mot Is this van safe to drive and have you done anything about the holes you found in the chassis And where the battery fits.. surely priority One would be to get a legal mot on it for peace of mind. Or have I missed something here.. Keep up with the work it will be a great ride when it's done looking forward to seeing the thread build.

Nice van.
I trust you and the boss will have good times in it.
I would still look at naming and shaming the garage for wibblepoo workmanship.

Won't name and Shame garage as I wouldn't want hassle for the lady owner I got it from other wise I would have visited the garage on way home
And no haven't fixed the hole yet just moved the battery so it won't fall on the road

Let me get this right bigal, youve gone out and spent money on curtains instead of getting the battery tray welded up and the exhaust sorted and the rotten floors?........lovely van no doubt, but are you mad? The van is in a very bad and dangerous condition and in my view should not be driven never mind shopping for drapes! the garage should be reported to vosa asap regardless.

Think your missing the point here a bit. Iets look at it from this angle. If The local traffic cops stop you for a ( spot check ) or as they say in this neck of the woods I stopped you because iam interested in old motors myself. As they are looking at your pride and joy and saying how nice it is and I ain't seen one of these before All the time they are looking for faults. So they can send your motor to the big scrapyard in the sky
Iam not having a go at you but please if it's got any rusty holes either in the chassis or Where ever get them done.. and do something about the cowboys who tested it in the first place. Don't let them get away with it..

From what I can gather bigal, youve travelled a 300-400 mile round trip to buy it, then when youve looked at thought ah noo!! But ive got to have it cus its well cool and ive always wanted one and just how cool am I going to look pulling up at the J meets ect. Ect. So youve bought a van with your heart not your head and handed the money over thinking what the hell am I going to do in dec when its up for mot again.
ive seen this van in the flesh ok, I was there when the purchase happend so I do know how bad this van is and tonka 12 above inspected it after the purchase and give it the last rights, way beyond economical repair. You vannot buy the cills anymore so its make your own time.
what gets me the most is that you wont report the van and its ticket to vosa because your frightend they will condem it and it wont see the road again and youve lost ya money.
what you do with your van is entirly up to you, but I realy cant see how you can drice around in it knowing dam well its about to fall apart.
Like I said, ive seen and inspected the van when it was purchased and you must be crazy to drive around in it.
having said that, its your van and you will.do with it what you will and drive it as you will, but just think about what your in when driving around on the roads with it.
best of luck with the resto.
