Get the damn steering wheel off the column in my consul!??!
i cant for the life of me figure out how to get the horn ring off to even begin!!!!
am i just being dumb or is there a special knack to it??

at last a question i can answer. push the horn ring forwards and turn left this will then spring off .the centre nut should come off easily then i usually hit the centre thread with a copper mallet as someone tugs it for me (stop sniggering at the back)... hope this helps it brings back memories of a 375 convertable i had a few years ago..

*General hint alert* When you're trying to release the wheel off the column it is a good idea to keep the nut on loosely (ie a couple of turns) so that when the wheel suddenly breaks free you don't end up with an impression of the centre boss on your face...

*General hint alert* When you're trying to release the wheel off the column it is a good idea to keep the nut on loosely (ie a couple of turns) so that when the wheel suddenly breaks free you don't end up with an impression of the centre boss on your face... yes! and if you have a collapsible column don't hit it *too* hard read "at all") with a hammer....or youll spend weeks finding and refurbing and attaching a replacement column...

*General hint alert* When you're trying to release the wheel off the column it is a good idea to keep the nut on loosely (ie a couple of turns) so that when the wheel suddenly breaks free you don't end up with an impression of the centre boss on your face... i was about to say this. i did a few weeks work experiance working on big lorries, and the week before i got there a guy had hit himself in the chops with a steering wheel when pulling it off. aparently he atleast lost quite a few front teeth, but he didnt re appear for the whole 2 weeks i was there so got know what else broke!
