Does any body know where to get good ones? As in like decent cars, not Porsches or subarus. I've got these two but they're a bit tatty. The black one goes like the clappers! Lee.

If its 1/12 scale try kamtec and mardave. Alot of the shell were originaly made for R/C banger racing and they are very well detailed. Ive got a Rover P5 at the moment which is 'work in progress'. There is a wide variety of stuff available from imps to jags.

yokomo do some very detailed body shells. they're a little bit "barry" but I like them: rx7 fc nissan 180sx ae86 all come with windscreen wipers, mirrors, exhausts and spoilers. there are more modern ones but they're a bit too flashy

the scoob at the top looks a lot like 1/10th to me. you can get ae86's and some other stuff, watch out for widths, tamiya and some others are 190mm wide, kyosho's and others are 200mm. yankee stuff (corvette's firebirds etc.) are generally 200mm (I've been looking). anyone have a tamiya subaru brat shell they could go and measure? want one for my touring car ;D look for "shell" "bodyshell" "body" and "shell" on ebay. will take you all night to look at them all tho. try somebodies on ebay. mk1 escort shells in 190mm and 200mm flavour also a huge range of 1/12 like kamtec. I recomend the mk3 capri ;D apologies for the huge pic

Here's your mission. Your scooby is probably 1/10, which makes the wheels about right to be scale diameter for a 1/8 hot rod, i think. Take the drive shaft for the 4x4 out of the scoobs chassis, then cut it in half. Purchase one of kamtec's 1/8 starlet bodies and fabricate a chassis length to fit. Find the largest offset 1/10 touring wheels you can and run them on the now 1/8 starlet. You might even be able to fabricate wide wheels with some foam tyres and waste pipe slid over the original wheels. Or Buy a V12 chassis for around £50 and a 1/12 starlett. Keith does two 1/12 starlets one with retro hot rod rounded arches, one with more up to date x-pack style arches. I quite fancy building up an electric 1/8 Anglia. These are pretty big and usually run steel chassis with i/c power. Got this idea that i could build a twin motor electric with a scale-ish four-linked live axle and double wishbone front end.

I don't even know the size of my scoobys. The black one is a tamiya and the other a Kyosho. I'd like some kind of J-tin or a mini. But I'm really feeling J-tin love at the minute.

Wow - I am going to have to get some of those shells - I too have a pretty bad RC car 'habit' That is a carbon chassis TLT1 with HPI wheels, 12T motor, 3-channel radio gear, switchable/mixable 4WS and a locked center differential I also have a Clio Williams and a Lunchbox, plus I am part of the way through a MR2-Spyder, a Mini Cooper and a Bini Cooper S Now all I need is Fedex to show up with the latest package of hop-ups. I had forgotten quite how rough the mini was, maybe I should just stick it back in the cellar and pretend it never happened...
