Previously belonging to V8mike. Wants a vac out and a light T-cut. Seriously I reckon It`ll come up well once the weldings out of the way. Cant fault V8mike to deal with, if anything he undersold it as I didnt know about the dash and doorcards, I`d assumed the entire interior was missing. check that out!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Cheers fellas, I`ll know what the engines like this aft - I`ve got one or bits on the way that should help me to get it fired up. Yes that is my XR4x4, you`re not that far away reanimation so you may well have seen it, ironically the Cavalier is the only car anybody has looked at today! Hoping to get it inside tonight and the Capri can come out of its bed and stand next to the Sierra for a while and be a crowd puller!
I know this is a shameless plug but the 480 is a good`un.

Wow! thats a trip down memory lane for me!
My Dad had one of the first GLS sportshatches in the Uk as his company car.
His was white with red velour interior and I can even remember the reg...CDB105T I wonder if that one still lives on?
When I was 7 it was the coolest car in the world in my book and really sporty, what with its 1800cc engine and frameless doors
I remember someone at my school being amazed that you could spend £6000 on a car!!!!
I cant wait to see this one done, make sure you lose the GT/E front bumper and get a lovely chrome one back on!

Cool! Sports hatches are for the win, just like all other Cavaliers. Can we see some restoration/wip pics in the future?

Time to be pedantic, it will have been a 1600 or 2000. The 1800 engine didn't come until the 83 model year, by which time the Cavalier Mk1 was no more, they were all badged as Opel Mantas by then.
Vic, what are your plans for it? It'll be good to see another one on the road. You ought to keep the 480 as well, my missus reckons they're a great pairing!

Just checked on the DVLA site, it was a 1600. It was last taxed in 1992, and is listed as black.

Well I was only about 7 at the time Just checked on the DVLA site, it was a 1600. It was last taxed in 1992, and is listed as black. Maybe the new owner painted it black to match the Vinyl roof ;D

Thanks for all the kind words,gents........ITS ALIVE! Got it running yesterday afternoon, drove it about the yard using a milk crate as a seat. Rear hatch glass is now reinstalled, and it has an indoor parking space. Work will be starting next week, and when theres a bit of progress I`ll start a reader`s wives big tits spesh thread, - every rounded bolt, welding flash, expensive tool accidentally run over and botched cup of tea will be be reported!
I`m now going to try and find a thread on 1900SRs example as judging from the avatar it looks like what I`ll be aiming for.

The end product will hopefully be standard exterior, wheels and drivetrain, but lowered (It already is - bonus!) and with fancy seats. I`m gonna detail the hell out of the Rostyles rather than change them.

I might have the original bumpers somewhere if they arent in it Vic, and the chromework too. I'll have a look see **Oh, and you'll want to put shorter shocks on the rear, if you jack it up at the mo the springs will fall out
