Ive just bought a mk2 polo breadvan, off the road since 2002 and one owner since 1989. looks a bit rough as it hasnt saw daylight in 12years but fingers crossed it will be saved and not too rotten. no plans as of yet until its been properly inspected for rot etc.

That'll take some polishing! You don't see many of the very last mk2 breadie special editions

Check the battery tray and inside the rear wheel arches, especially the drivers side. The fuel tank neck will probably have rotted where it meets the tank as well.

That is exactly the same model as I have. Mine was and still is mint, however it's undergoing a VERY slow transformation into something a touch quicker! I really like the colour coding and lack of rear window surround/spoiler thingy on the Match special edition. They're nicely trimmed too. However, the red painted wheel trims are bloody hideous! What were VW thinking of? As qwerty said, check out the battery tray and rear arches/fuel tank neck.

I had a B reg polo bread van given to me by my almost mother in law as my first car in 2001 and the only rot was where the fuel tank and pipe joined

cant decide if i should restore to factory, or mess about with it a bit, lowered, different wheels etc. theres a small hole as you open the petrol flap, back panel has a small hole and so does the front. but thats only what i can see at the moment, needs up in the air and interior out to check properly next week
