Cool. So are you keeping this suspension modding stuff quiet from the lotus forum people? He he Funny you should say that, I've just come clean on the their forum, posted the photoshop image yesterday and let them know it's going on air. Don't really know what the feeling is as yet but hasn't seemed to upset the apple cart so far. I'm sure I'll lose half the followers, but heyho, can't please everyone. Exhaust has arrived, post photos shortly, cheers Charlie ;-)

So now to the biggest problem to resolve. So if you go back to the first post and take a look at the first photo you will see that the front and most prominently rear wheel is forward in the arch where I believe the body was put back on the new chassis about 2cm off line. So how do I move the bloody thing forward? Obviously it's not as easy as just slotting the bolt wholes and moving it forward. No, there are many points of obstructions which need addressing. Firstly two sections have to be cleared behind the rear shock towers, then a v-section of the chassis has to be eased apart for the shell to move. Not easy but sort of getting there. Take the weight of the shell. You can't see it here but my first attempts do show movement forward.

Given the workmanship shown, I assume you've already checked that it's not the frame that is out of whack?? It seems weird to me that you should move the body forward farther then it is phisically possible... That is why I wonder if the frame hasn't been hit and caused the rear/front wheels to sit so strange in their wheelhouses. Also looking at that rear wheel, you're talking quite some distance as well!
I'm not the one standing besides the car though, I just thought I'd ask...

Good note, however it's 100% the shell off kilter. The guys on the Lotus forum have suggested that seeing as this car has had a replacement chassis and the fact that the shell is over 30 odd years old, it's not out of character for slightly curse word alignment. I could have just left it well alone but I could never live with the wheels not being centered in the arch. Could do with 4 burley blokes to help me lift it forward though, almost impossible trying it on my own!

Okay, so you have considered the possibility!
In that case, I'm simply amazed that a 30 year old shell on a replacement chassis can cause this much difference. Unbelievable, but most of all...good luck on your endevour. I'm like you, I could never let this go!

^^ Cheers dude, been a massive fan of your car since you posted a thread on the lotus forums a couple years back and have been following your thread here since, yours is an absolutely inspirational build and the level of craftsmanship is mind boggling! I know all about lotus bits and sjsportscars, but thanks for the heads-up, mines a long way away from being finished but I could see a photo opportunity with your whens it's done... All the best, Charlie ;-)

Didn't get a great deal done this weekend due to the great weather over the weekend. I did however manage to notch the rear shock tower to accommodate the shock air valve.

Got a week off this week so hope to move along nicely with the car. I'm almost ready to install the air shocks after adding in the extending shock towers, now both welded in place. Can't wait to start putting it back together, hope to get the car rolling this week, back on wheels, if all goes well may be able to get a photo of lowered height. Will post some photos shortly... "Shall we synchronise our watches?" Charlie ;-)

Blimey, got the air shocks installed, the thing is low! 3months of solid work and finally now back on terra firma and on all 4 wheels. I have the roof line at 42" at its lowest setting, lower than an standard esprit me thinks! Photos shortly.
