jeez. so lucky then. where any locks broken? Locks all look same and the drivers side locked fine when i got it parked up in the unit (I wore gloves driving it in trying not to touch ANYTHING!) I'm thinking the same with trying to get it in to a scrappers, especially with another sighting in Oldham, he said same colour, fog lights etc on the back of a recovery truck so maybe they have tried everywhere? There is also a CCTV camera on the side of the shop where it was left that points out towards the road so we should be able to see how it was parked/who parked it etc That would truly be the icing on the cake for me!

Has the interior rear view mirror gone? It usually the first thing to be ripped out and chucked if it was taken/ driven by someone with a record, if its there make sure they check it for prints. Is there no steering lock damage at all? If not then I guess it was either taken by someone who had a key or who just lifted it with a hiab and not driven.
Probably a bit late now but please have a really good check round it for needles stuck into the seats if it might have been had away by smack heads going to weigh it for cash
Glad you got it back - just goes to show how useful the internet and facebook can be!

Stealing one of those things is easy, they suffer the same problems as Micras, the keys and the locks get worn with age to the point that you could open the car and start it up with a nail file, I kid you not. So firstly, get a fecking disclock on it, and always park it with the wheels turned toward the curb, makes it more difficult to drag onto a beavertail, and the thief knows he can circumvent the locks, but the disclock is going to be a pain in the . Well done for getting it back, would love to hear the full story of how you got it back, and whilst some scrapyards are a little how shall we say, not too kosher, i'm sure they took one look at the car and questioned why the feck it would be weighed in, its an old car, but clearly in good condition, and probably told whoever brought it in "no chance mate", its got bait car written all over it. Whats really galling is the price of scrap is right down at the moment, it wouldn't have weighed in for more than £70 quid. Glad you got it back Nice to hear a happy ending for a change.

It's good to see that the new rules ensuring scrapyards can no longer deal in metal for cash are actually working, if indeed the above theories about the thief not being able to get shot of it quick enough are correct.
The government gets a lot of stick from us lot, I think this is one case where we can raise a glass to them instead and thank them on behalf of our friend Blooor here.

Doesn't matter what the cars worth, its the principal, I hate thieving Bs I remember having my escort mark 2 stolen, I had just fitted a new gearbox it came back to me minus a headlamp and a flat tyre. I think its the fact somebody has been in your car a driven it with no regard for the fact you tax and test and insure it, they just think its ok to do whatever they want then dump it. Police are less than useless most cases especially if its an old car.

Hi, I think part of the problem is the law doesn't value cars very highly, and the little shi...culprits are charged with taking without owners consent. They see twocking as a badge of office. Although I am not a fan of the Americans, they view it as grand theft auto and treat it accordingly.
