It's good stuff.the stuff I used I hardly prepped it and it stuck like sh*t to a blanket I used a small sponge roller and it came out really well the trick is to use 2 rollers.1 for painting it then a dry 1 to go over when the paint is starting to get tacky.it takes the lumps and bumps out of it and gives it the flay finish.go for a satin finish not gloss or matt they don't come out very well.heres a pic of it if any body wants to put it up properly lol www.bmwshow.co.uk/gallery_detail2011.php?photo=untitled-6775

Mil spec paint require special application technique. First get the car nice and dirty - mud excellent. Then take a yard brush and after tipping paint into an dirty dustbin (not necessary to remove rubbish first) apply in broad strokes. Ensure everything covered. Well that is how all the military vehicles I've seen seem to have been painted Paul h BTW I intend repainting my Mahindra with Nato satin green but will probably spray as haven't a suitable yard brush.

Yep, I used that very paint and highly recommend it. Used a foam roller and thinned it.

May be an urban myth, but I have heard that ex military vehicles with camo paint have problems with radar controlled traffic lights not seeing them, as the paint blocks radar, so if this is the real deal you might have commuting problems. Ttfn Glenn

Cheers for the replies guys will go for some of that then N the radar thing is an urban myth, they tested it on myth busters haha, mil spec cars are painted satin and matte to help stop reflection of light, well according to some army buddies, though even they admit they don't know the official reason, probably cheapness and ease hehe

matt military paint to DEF STAN 80-41 is IRR (infra-red reflecting) - you can however get matt in non-IRR. There's an additive in IRR paint (a type of clay I think) that reflects IR light.

You wouldn't want to paint a car with the genuine IRR paint, it's horrible stuff, very brittle, fades quickly and sets like concrete, that's why the army vehicles used to look like sh!t when they had been brush painted. I've painted enough of them to know lol.
