Hello
Here we have my Cordoba Red Alpina for sale, 1 of only 8 cars produced in 1995 (Dash Plaque #340). It has all the Alpina documentation and build codes / extras that came with the car. I have a A4 lever arch file full of MOT's, various receipts and invoices for parts and work carried out on the Car (I will edit the thread once I have gone through all the paper work). I purchased it off a friend under a year ago and have used it sparingly, mainly when the weather is good (hence sparingly!). Alpina green and blue stiching inside on the steering wheel and auto stick, Alpina stainless steel exhaust (purposeful and to the point), Cordoba Red with Gold, yup Gold Alpina stripes and Logo!
I am cycling my fleet at the moment as I fancy a change, I recently sold my e12 back to Marke21 which was the beginning and I have a Porsche up next! With that in mind I maybe interested in doing a deal if you have something that sparks my interest!
The car does have some negatives I shall point out:
1. The Car looks stunning, but has some light scratches and impressions commensurate with age and mileage 2. The car functions fine in automatic, but the switches behind the steering wheel to change gear do not work, this is not going to be related to 'possibly a fuse but have not checked' but the microswitches knackered that will need replacing. 3. The Drivers seat Bolster has worn through and had a patch glued over, it looks nasty but does the trick, I often look on ebay for a sport interior in the correct colour but they have either been knackered, not the correct shade or miles away! 4. I'm sure their is another point to mention but the grey cells are fried at the moment!
I will update as we go as no doubt questions will prompt the thought process!
I will let the pictures do the speaking:

Just curious really, mechanically how does this differ from the nearest BMW (presumably a 328)?

I thought this was nearer the evo, which is light years away from the 328. Nearly 100 horses more and far better spec?
Edit - 250 horses. The 328 has 193 and doesn't really feel that power. It's restricted and is breathless when asked to perform IMO.

So the B3 engine is based on the 2.5 not bored to 3.0 litres to give 250 bhp and 320 nm torque iirc. Also the internals are reworked to Alpina spec including the cams, head, intake, ecu etc. it's not just a chipped 328 with a body kit.
When the shell arrived in the UK it is given a Alpina VIN and not a BMW one as this car was built by Sytners in Nottingham and still retains dealer stickers and plates.
Where a 328 gets to it's power curve this things lifts up its skirt and heads to the hills, in my opinion it is the gentleman's express whereas the M3 is a hooligan mobile!!! No offence intended :-)

Quite interested to hear about the history of this in terms of work carried out etc. Have you had a chance to dig through the paperwork yet?
Any interest in an MR2 turbo?

i had the earlier 2.8 version of the E36 Alpina and I actually preferred it to my M3. the engines are torquey but also love to rev and easily make more power than they're rated at.
If i was in a position to buy another car (unfortunately got 5 cars atm) id be very tempted good luck with the sale, have a free bttt from me

I had an E46 B3 3.3 saloon BMW Alpina. They are cracking bits of kit and lovely cars, just a little bit more special than a normal BMW. Anyone who is interested in this one or any Alpina, have a look at the Alpina forum (simple Google search), they are a wealth of information.
Good luck with the sale.

shame you're selling, just found this one.
Just a bit of info, these e36's were actually built in Germany by Alpina and shipped over complete, Sytners only sold them on to the ordering dealer/owner, gone were the days they took everything out of the shell only to replace the parts with Alpina supplied items, so the e36 is a full on Buchloe built Alpina but they retained the original BMW vin number. I think not long after that (on the e46) they crossed the BMW vin out and stamped their own.
It's based on the then current 325i and used the US 3.0 M3 block (if I remember correctly). The 240bhp noted by Alpina for the B3 3.0 is very conservative (output varied anywhere from 250 to 260 odd) though and although not as quick as a 3.0 M3 under normal circumstances its not that far behind. Fantastically potent, torquey and great fun, and when the switchtronic works its brilliant, shame the system doesn't work on this one though (is it the steering wheel connections that have failed?).
Still quite a rare piece of kit, in 95 they only sold 8 saloons in the UK and over the B3's 3.0 life (before the 3.2 came on the scene) in the UK they only sold 21 saloons, so whoever buys it will have a rare car to live with.

Interesting. What's the rust situation, anything showing? Could you add in some of the work/service info? And would a 1997 Audi S8 hold any part-ex interest for you?
