This is my '77 Chrysler Sunbeam 1300DL, it's got original 1.3 inline 4 with 55hp, transferred to rear wheels via original 4-speed manual gearbox. My grandfather bought it in early summer '78. and it's been in family since then. When he passed away in '07 my mom inherited it and tried selling it unsuccessfully. After she realized she won't sell it, she decided to give it to me, because I've been always loving that car. It's got genuine 62.700km (calculator says it's 38.960mi). Car's running and generally in nice condition, but needs restoration. Sunbeam's currently waiting for me to make detailed plan of restoration or rest-mod and I'm waiting to get my driving license in about a week. My wish is to have small block V8, but something more realistic is 2.0 or 2.5, both paired to 5/6-speed manual & LSD. It's got DL (DeLux) trim which is, strangely, basic trim and it's got basically nothing of electronic stuff like A/C, power windows etc. nor has power steering or braking. If I manage to fit better engine all this stuff and more are coming, but all done to look like it's supposed to be there...
Until now, I've been driving it around the block (because I don't have driving license yet and because it hasn't been registered for about 8 years now), and it drives well and smoothly (at least when I'm driving it, whoever else drove it, it was rough ride). It's comfortable, nice to be in (except during hot summer days, when leather heats up) and very spacious, although it's small from outside...
Car's not for sale and I won't be changing my mind anytime soon...
Here, have some pics
The last 2 were taken right after it's been pulled out of garage after about 4 years without moving or starting the engine... It started as soon as we conected new battery and put some gasoline in 2L Coca-Cola bottle so the engine wouldn't pull rust or anything from tank.
Cheers!
