Hey all, Thought I may as well start a thread for this now I'm di finitely keeping it after some financial issues this year! I bought this '87accord 3G CA5 back in July ish time last year off hondacrazy off here (legend of a guy). It's the 2ltr 12v auto (yay) with electric everything (mostly working) inc cruise control, a/c etc etc. it's had a recent okish paint job to jet black which has since been keyed all over. Anyway, I bought her looking like this: Sat fairly low on some 17" fox halfords specials, kinda period suited but I knew they had to go. After wafting about in it for a week or so I jacked her up to check out the underside. Generally happy however I noticed the fuel filler pipe had started to rot (common on these, in fact a lot were recalled) so without welding ability I sleeved the pipe with some fuel proof silicon hose left over from an old mk2 golf bike carb conversion. I then wax oiled the entire pipe and area. I decided to hunt for some replacement wheels. I managed to win a couple of rare SSP wheels off eBay, 17/7.5j for the rear which with a trial fit sat lovely Then a couple of weeks later I sourced a full set of RG2 Reps, slightly narrower at 7J but tucked nicely with the forward rake After some test driving a little arch rolling was needed and I sacked the mudflaps off. I was content for a while and the only other changes were a stupid anti scene sticker: And a backbox delete resulting in: Then the old girl was parked up over winter until feb.......

Back out and used as a 30 mile a day commute she was loving it Until up to 3 weeks ago I was happy, but I started to feel the 17s were a little too big, my thoughts were pushed into doing something about it by a friend selling some 16" jeep wheels. Low offset, 50mm combined 2 piece adaptors put crazy images in my head so I snapped them up. Il just chuck them on with a mate in an afternoon I said, it will be easy. After 6 hours, heavily rolled and pulled arches, removed arch liners, cut down lug nuts, blood everywhere and various colourful words, me and my friend Steve had them fitted: I was insanely happy. It ruined my rear arches to get them to fit and it now sits so low (sump): But sits so right: Can't get over catseyes now but it's how all my cars used to be before I got married and it's when I'm happiest. I cleaned her and fitted a faux oil cooler for a slight BOSO look and that brings us up to date:

Lovely. I'm never ever going to worry about being too low ever again having seen this The Jeep wheels suit it more than the others. Did you do a povo arch roll or use the proper tool? I ask as I might need to do this myself and haven't done it before.

Cool as penguin curse word in all its guises. Its a shame Asian drug dealers have migrated onto crappy late model BeeEms and Mercs, these looked loads cooler rolling around with smoke billowing from slightly dropped limo tinted windows.

Looks fantastic! Fitment works really well.
Shame we never really modified Accords much in the UK, they love them in the US.

I wasn't sold on the Jeep wheels while Dan and I were fitting them, I liked the RG reps. But in hindsight, it's definitely better Wagoneer, the rear arches needed a hard roll and pulling by about 2mm to fit those Jeeps wheels, it was a mole grips job and not pretty That said it doesn't seem to hurt the cars image to have mangled rear arch lips

Cheers guys, yeah not at all common over here are the saloons, which in turns makes getting parts a nightmare, I need a few bushes and what not for the front suspension and I'm being forced to wait until payday and ordering them online from 'Muricaaaa.
Unfortunately as steve above said it was a "povo as it gets" rear arch roll due to the massive pull required to get the thing drive able. It wasn't an issue to me as the while car has been keyed so it will be seeing paintwork

l saw this car for sale on here would have been tempted if l didnt have 2 projects haha, Those wheels look awesome l saw some on a civic at retro show a few years ago and they suited that as well.. sweet

Thanks for the info Steve/duckdown, There's a BMW estate that I pass daily with mole grip arches...it looks so beaten up compared to yours. I might have to 'gently' hammer mine a bit then.

I think the weapon of choice is a baseball bat - or for those of us on this side of the pond, a table leg/scaffold pole.
This car looks very bad a s s! Love that sump clearance (lack of).

Ahh, I see. A cricket bat is out of the question then! There's a reasonable piece of tubing laying around at work that could do it. Presumably I need to trap it between the tyre and arch then run it round a few times?
