Heh. It's not too bad, I guess. Cheap parts for cars I don't need them for... :\ The Minor isn't even in any of the books. ;( Slow day today, only one car of interest, although there was a Kombi I didn't manage to get outside for.

Australia. Stuff the property ladder, the politics and the economy. Stuff the weather, Christmas barbies and laid back attitude in most fields - it's the promise land because their choice of cars suits any taste especially if you like motors.
I know the motor industry is a bit of a sore subject at the moment, but we got through a hard time, so will the Aussies.
Wish my ancestors got sent there. I qualify, too.

mikeymk I sort of agree with you on the taste thing, sort of don't. But I know I am a minority in my preference of odd cars. There has been a noticeable increase in old motors wafting around recently, though. I'm not sure if that's me being more aware of them than I used to be, or the fact that everyones 10 year projects have been finished, but it's not a bad thing! The motor industry thing is our own hole. Our government has a love of screwing up all avenues of making money. Privatising almost the entire government support system for example. Haven't privatised jails yet though!

Couple more, also changed the source to my Flickr account as I didn't realise imageshack was only a 30 day thing. :\ Anywho! This one was actually owned by the same owner of the blue Rx7 posted earlier, but is his sons car. Learning to drive in a rotary! What a wankel! Should have taken a photo of the F truck while I was there. :\ That's it for now!

Had a nice vette show up today. $70k worth of work to it, "not really an old car, more of a new car built like a classic". Pretty much no old panels, etc. Then a Triumph showed up! First time I've actually seen one in the flesh! (oh, and the vette was back)

Maybe just a little too much chrome deletion.. Everything was painted. Bumpers, light surrounds, grill... All the chrome was gone! Oh wait, there it is!

Holy cow, I thought the blue Series 3 RX-7 was beautiful enough, but that burgundy Series 2 trumps it . Just gorgeous, lucky kid having his old man get him that to learn in. Mind you, there's plenty else to like here, that Gran Torino's got some presence! Has the Valiant parked actually in a bit of fence, or does it have the world's most humongous roo-bar nailed to the front ?

But didn't you know? Everyone rides their kangaroo to work, so a roo-bar is quite necessary!

Not been much coming through lately, although I missed a nice Merc as it was too busy to get outside for most of the day.

What does "Old" on the front plate mean ? Do you have some sort of restriction of use, reduced annual fee to government etc sort of thing ?

Hah. I was like, what.....? That actually says QLD, which is Queensland, the state that I live in. We get screwed over for everything, so nothing is ever free. Best we get with classics is a 'club plate' which is about 1/3 of the cost of registration for the year, but you can only drive the car to and from events, on club meets, and to the mechanics and back, etc. Oh, and most clubs charge a fee to be a member as well. And you have to show up to something like 80% of club events or your membership is revoked. Saying that, any plate with an S at the start is a club plate, so in this case, correct deduction, anyway.

Little crusty, but I have always liked big F trucks for some reason. Also, this is the same truck that had two Minors on it. Note the tailgate in almost the same position as it was with the two Minors on. o.O Oh, and the nose is almost through the headboard as well! We had to jack the Minor up heaps to poke it through...
