curse word yeah, Robinson, the most commonly crashed helicopter in New Zealand. Probably not bad helicopters though. They just crash a lot because Kiwis tend to push limits and expect them to carry far more than they realistically should.

Thank you one and all. She deserved it. So, this morning, we hit up Quezon City to pick up new shock absorbers and then I took My Little Honour Student for breakfast up the Handlebar pub.  As usual, she devastated the plate, but that's not the point of this post. Whilst Tania was licking the pattern off, I espied a beer promotion. There's a local brewery down Laguna way called Crazy Carabao and one of their beers is an India Pale Ale, for which I have been known to be a bit of a tart.  I'm meeting a pal there tomorrow for a few scoops (sans vehicle) so asked the rather fetching waitress if they had it in stock. "Yes sir George, 199 Peso for three." Just over a quid a bottle for 6.5%? What's not to like? I hope they don't expect me to cook tomorrow when I get home! |

Looking at George's post elsewhere, it would probably deliver better fuel economy too.

Congratulations to your little bottle opener, she looks proper proud of herself, and so she should. I may have mentioned that I'd offered to teach My Little Bottle Opener to drive... Apart from the obvious blood pressure issues and general carnage, this shouldn't pose any major problems, should it Since lockdown started I've been taking my girls 10, and 14 to the supermarket car parks for some driving experience. They've been doing OK, I think that my youngest has taken to it the easiest, but they do seem to take it in turns as to who's driving is best that particular week. So far no cars have been harmed during this experiment. My underwear however has been ruined several times! pistonpopper I would get some advice about the kids driving like that as a supermarket car park can be deemed a public place despite being owned by the supermarket. The law below.
It is an offence to use (or permit to be used) a motor vehicle on a road or public place when there is not in force a relation to the use of the vehicle such a policy of insurance in respect of third party risks as complies with the Road Traffic Act.
(Road Traffic Act 1988 s143 (C2)
So the kids may need licence and insurance (plainly not possible in this case) and you could be causing or permitting driving without licence and insurance I wouldn't want you to find out the painful way.

Might depend to some extent upon whether the plod reads the law as relating to activities in a 'public place' i.e. not private land, or activities in a 'place to which the public has access'.

I must admit duggers I've thought about this myself, especially a couple of weeks back when we were doing it and the police turned up. I thought, oh dear, here we go (or something like that) but they gave us a good looking at as they drove slowly past us with my youngest at the wheel, then they did a lap of the car park and just left. I wasn't really sure what to think about that, but I'm glad they didn't stop to chat. |

pistonpopper it seems to be one of those things that exists in law but rarely gets enforced unless there are complaints or bad driving. Roads policing may take a different view to response as it requires a detailed understanding of the law relating to road traffic offences which is not really something response officers get outside some of the more serious offences. The law was amended in 2000 to change the wording to road or other public place, a public place being a place to which the public , or part therof, have access. Doesn't say anything about private or requiring permissions but is down to the prosecution to prove it is a road or public place.

Thanks again guys. Appreciated. Like you, Alex, I couldn't attend, but we are where we are. On early driving, the problem is that 90% of car parks around us are multi storey and don't open until the shop does. Makes it a bit tricky. Oh, and the IPA was bloody awful!  |

Bit late to the party here but this law is quite heavily enforced over here, used particularly often against yoofs what be 'andbrakin' an' the like. Road laws then apply so they've been done for dangerous driving, and it's not a rare thing at all. |

Is that where you put McD trays or water meter lids under your rear wheels, apply the handbrake, and then drift around in circles in your FWD civic? Added points for the metal meter lids because sparks. George, how viable is brewing your own beer over there? Can you get wort kits and gas? I just set up a 2 20l keg system in the garage a little whiles back, and I calculate it to be about $1.15 per 375mm beer of my choice now  Initial outlay for me was about $220 with a free fridge, but who knows what the kit would cost over there! |

I just set up a 2 20l keg system in the garage a little whiles back, and I calculate it to be about $1.15 per 375mm beer of my choice now Initial outlay for me was about $220 with a free fridge, but who knows what the kit would cost over there! Seems there is a place down in Tagatay that supplies all the kit and caboodle for the home brewer. When they lift travel restrictions (March 1?) I may have a little trip down to see them. I'll be living closer to there soon anyway. My problem is being lazy. Sending Ate Crazy to 7-11 is just too easy and, at around AUD1.5 for 330ml, isn't particularly expensive! |

Be interesting to know how much it cost for a kit then. Its actually quite simple if you're kegging it.
Bottling is where all the effort is.
I usually pay about 8-13 $AU for what I normally drink, not including discounts, so it works out well for me!
Granted I could buy a case of something for cheaper, but I like getting mixed 6 craft beers!

I do remember Madam and I going on a wine sampling trip north of Melbourne. Along with us were two young Japanese girls who spoke not a word of English between them. Madam, who speaks Japanese fluently, took them under her wing and promptly got them absolutely bladdered. When we got back to our digs, we had to rustle up a taxi for them, as there was no way they could communicate with a driver, even if they could have spoken English! VB for me when in Aussieland. Aye, and VB too! Teach Ate Crazy to make your beer. Seemples As ever, your thinking is sound, but... I've got all the ingredients, written down the recipe and she still can't make a cup of tea! On the subject of Australia, when we were there I took Madam to see Rocky Horror Show at a nearby theatre. It was her first live show, she loved it! |
