Sorry about the cute little guy.
When much younger I worked a couple summers on a mink ranch. My job was capturing those wild demons from their cages and holding them securely while they were inoculated against botulism and distemper, so there IS, or at least WAS a shot which prevented infection. Could be, a local vet may be able to safeguard the rest of your canine friends...

That's probably where he caught it then Nah, the place is immaculate. If I'm poorly, I'd rather go there than hospital. But then in the UK, vets impressed me way more than doctors. |

Not if you care about animal welfare. Rustling? I wish! They're too small and bony for the illegal meat trade. I can leave them on the verge with a sign round their neck saying 'FREE to good home' and they're dropped back within 10 minutes later after eating the seat covers |

Seriously... let's not bother with legitimate courts of law finding the accused guilty, beyond a reasonable doubt given the preponderance of evidence. It's enough to be "accused" or "suspected" by anyone who may have a personal grudge they'd like to settle through immediate assassination by police or vigilantes..., once and for all.... As was done back in the good old days of Duarte's death squads and has now been resurrected in the current "Democracy". I'm no supporter of evil towards humanity in any form, nor do I mean to suggest that you ARE...., perhaps you left much unsaid in your above statement..., but I consider it worse to convict and execute those who have NOT been PROVEN guilty. I said drug dealers, not suspected ones.
And drug dealers deal in evil towards humanity (which you say you do not support in any form), a drawn out expensive slow passage to death for those they entrap. They are an evil the world does not need. We have a massive drug problem here, P alone is killing thousands and destroying whole families/generations, I cannot see how anyone could have any sort of sympathy for them. But that is my view.

Tania reckons that the remaining pup has been possessed by his ex-brother. He seems to have developed exactly the same character traits since t'other died. Interesting theory, difficult to quantify. All I know is that he was trying to get a drink out of a bowl that was nearly empty, so I filled it for him. Being a bright boy, he stuck his face right in it,as before, got soaking wet and spent the next few minutes barking at the bowl! Yes, his ex-brother had very little brain as well! Holes? How about holes? Like that there big one that someone drove a lorry into a few weeks ago. There was talk of prosecuting the driver and, to that end, last week someone's snuck out and painted "Limit-20 tons" in yellow paint on the road just in front of it. The prosecution will have a field day. Bang to rights. And no, nobody's even come close to actually set about repairing it! One bright spot in the drudgery is we've got 3x4 day weeks coming up. Eid next Monday, Aquino Day (we do dead people here, we do) Wednesday the week after and the following Monday is National Heroes Day. Now who or what constitutes a national hero is anyone's guess (but I'll bet a pound they're dead as well), but as we get a day off for it, who the hell cares?  Oh aye, and to end on a cheery note. Yesterday, the Department of Health declared a National Dengue Epidemic (wonder if we can get a day off for that as well?). That'll be due to the 146,062 cases recorded since January and up to July 20 this year, 98% higher than the same period in 2018.  It's dead, can we have a day off? |

See, it's not all bad. Today is Friday, always a good start. Monday is a holiday. Even better. However, in true Bank Holiday style, we have a typhoon. She's called Hanna. Isn't that sweet. On the bright side, it makes it difficult for mosquitoes to operate effectively. It's hard to get yer dengue riddled snout into someone whilst being blown sideways at 70kph! Have a good weekend! |

This thread was the first thing that shot up in my mind when at 3:55am this morning I was rudely awakend by a mosquito (of the regular non threatening variety) buzzing around my head. Took me 2 tries to get it to stop buzzing (or maybe it's buzzing in the afterlife now). Lay awake for over an hour as the wife was snorring away asif she was alone on the planet...
Here's hoping you still get to enjoy your bank weekend despite your typhoon. Hope it won't do too much harm in general.

^^ - pretty much my strategy. wet or dry season makes no difference to beer drinking time.
If i'm at the usual purveyor of fine locally sourced beverages and it's fine then sit on jetty and drink beer. if it's wet then sit in bar at end of said jetty and drink beer.
this can misfire if it rains for a longer spell; more beer is consumed and by the time it's dry again and we can leave (as no-one goes anywhere if it's raining) the truck may have to be abandoned in favour of the short stumble home.
