Clever Dr me thinks a decent dose of anti histamine will make her sleepy and sleep will help. Plus less chance of breeding resistant bugs by overuse of antibiotics. Ah, but the later generation of tablet, so I'm informed, don't cause drowsiness like they used to. Besides, I've never known a Filipina who couldn't fall asleep on the head of a pin within a nanosecond anyway. Tania certainly can! A good dose of brandy would make her similarly sleepy and not require a visit to the doctor or a prescription. Quite! Problem here is that doctors feel obliged to hand out something, no matter how appropriate, or not. It seems patients expect something for their dollar. Nearly forgot. Not content with a dog that grew inexplicably to more than 5kg (thus breaking the apartment's rules) and having a parvo riddled Shi Tzu, I was out with Pup 1 last night when we came upon a rather bedraggled one of these... with handy fag packet for size comparison. It's a walking skeleton and, apart from drinking copious amounts of milk has slept pretty much continuously since I got it home. Seems happy enough though.

I imagine it's mother left it with the pack of cigarettes to ensure it could pay it's way for the first few months of it's new life away from home. $AU2 a cigarette is the going price at high school these days I hear, I bet that'd get you pretty far over there..

Just talking about the price of cigarettes with my sister-in-law today. It's a wonder anyone can afford to smoke here. A pack of 20 is now around NZ$30 so varelse's $2 each isn't that ridiculous. When I worked in a shop back in the '80s a carton of 200 was $10-$12 depending on the brand.

You must have massive cigarette packets out there. Ours are much smaller than a cat. Anyway, what a sweet little thing. Mind you, you won't be saying that when it starts destroying your sofa and weeing in your shoes!

Anyway, what a sweet little thing. Mind you, you won't be saying that when it starts destroying your sofa and weeing in your shoes! They don't come much smaller than this. He actually doesn't weigh much more than a full packet either! Funnily enough, sofa aside, he's decided that the corner of the shower makes a great bog. Couldn't be better! Hi, It won't be long before the dogs are living in fear of the cat. Colin He's already swiped the big fellah across the nose, so relations have been cemented there and they now get along fine. I reckon the Shi Tzu's cruising for a bruising though. I did warn him but, as is the way of Shi Tzu everywhere, he'll ignore me and have to learn the hard way! Anyway, this tiny item now has a name. I asked Tania what we should call him and she immediately, without hesitation said, "Leonardo". So Leonardo it shall be.

Leonardo. Interesting name. My cat's name is Ouch!Stop That! with the punctuation. I have it on his vet records, they ALL remember that kitten. I think you are going to figure out how I came up with the name.

Cat and dog names need to pass this test...

Hah. We were discussing dog names last night at a family dinner, and my sister in law and her daughter had decided that they would call their dog Undies. So when the dog needed a bath they could yell out "Stinky Undies!"
I pointed out that when the dog inevitably escaped, her children would be running around the neighbourhood asking strangers if they'd "Seen my Undies?"

Sorry to interrupt this little name-fest, I was enjoying it! However, little Leo is no more. It would appear he went exploring last night, as kittens are wont to do, and found the only place in the house that, if he slipped, he'd effectively hang himself. It appears he did exactly that. I found him this morning halfway up the stairs as I was bringing my first brew up. So, RIP Leonardo, at least you had three days of damn good eating. Normal service will resume as soon as possible.

Sometimes they just get to you. I'm not really a cat person, although we always had two or three kicking around the house in the UK, but this one dug straight in. After two days of sleeping and eating he was finally becoming more of a kitten. Wanted to play and investigate stuff. Then this. Given that both our dogs are rescue, I've got a soft spot for the waifs and strays. Let's see what turns up next. 😃

Oh, and completely off topic (if there ever was one) anyone know anything about Ottawa, apart from the fact it's in Canada?

Ottawa is cold in the winter. That's all I've got.
Too bad about Leo. Having had many many litters of kittens over the years I can tell you that the ones that really are likeable often don't understand that asphalt equals two ton Buicks. I've had to bury way too many cats that either me or my daughter became attached to. The ones that were just mean little curse word makers don't count.
