I'm having another of my enforced fleet reductions at the moment. This time it's due to half the residents' car park in my road having been fenced off for works, followed by a letter from the local housing association telling me that I'm taking up too many of the remaining spaces, which to be honest was a fair point. I've taxed a couple and moved them out onto the road, but sadly I can't afford to tax them all, so this is one of the ones that has to go.
It's a P-reg 2.5 V6 auto, with the engine out of the V6 Cavalier / early Vectra B. It pulls well, albeit less so than in a Cavalier due to more weight, and sounds better than the four-pot Saab lump. It's a relaxing thing to drive with the auto 'box and soft suspension - it goes well in a straight line but it ain't no sports car, especially on bumpy roads.
It has remote locking, electric windows all round, electric roof (starting to show its age cosmetically, but watertight), full beige leather interior, trip computer, and the original Saab stereo with CD changer in the boot. It doesn't have cruise control, which surprised me; nor does it have aircon, but then I've never seen the point of aircon in a convertible, at least not in this country.
It's in good general condition for its age - apart from the aforementioned roof, it has a couple of scuffs on the bumpers and a couple of small areas on the front edge of the bonnet where the paint has gone flat, plus the odd age-related minor scratches in the paintwork, but it's still very presentable for its age. It does have a crack in the screen at the top on the passenger side - this intrudes into the wiped area by about an inch, easily solved by fitting a slightly shorter wiper blade on that side.
Mechanically the only things I can think of to mention are a slight weep from one of the rocker cover gaskets (common on this engine apparently - it doesn't use any noticeable amount of oil but you do occasionally get a whiff of oil from under the bonnet), and a wheel out of balance which means a bit of a judder at about 55-60. It apparently had a cambelt last year; I haven't been in there to check, but the aux belt and pulleys certainly look nice and new.
It's MOT'd until early June; tax ran out end of January, but it's still on my insurance so can tax again if need be. I'm about 15 miles NE of Norwich.
Here's some pitchers:
