Thanks! Well that was a while back. I didn't see the Crumar Performer again so I guess it stayed working for a while at least. I did buy the little Yamaha synth. It's really nice despite not having a keyboard with a proper 'action'. I totally failed to learn to play it though so it lives in a box in the attic. Anybody know any good online courses to learn to play a keyboard? I probably should get somebody to teach me. James you should . here's a nice bit of keyboard l like a lot, to inspire you

Interesting post, thank you. I saw Duran Duran a few weeks ago in London, they're still going strong after 40 years. I'm fairly sure they use more modern equipment these days, sadly!

Well this may have been a proper thread revival but I totally enjoyed reading it! Nice work James. 80's electro/synth stuff is right up my street still having a major love for all the Numan/Telekom type. I recently discovered "I Speak Machine" so still carrying on with the synthy stuff

I missed this first time round and I love it. I love synths and making music (I make terrible music and it occasionally makes its way on to the internet). The dream is to find an old analogue synth at auction that needs resurrecting and fix it up. Then I remember it has been at least 23 years since I soldered anything properly and I'm too stupid now to understand electronics.

Oh... I join here due to my MR2 restoration and find a thread about a string synth I have up the attic that I must get around to sorting/sold at some stage (mine is the earlier model Performer so poss not as desirable).
Have had many many old synths and repaired/sold them.. multiple units (must be over 100 by now) some of the hardest from memory were the Korg Polysixes I had (battery damage on circuit boards) this was well before they sold the kiwi boards to replace them :/ but I made a few grand on those so can't complain. Had a ton of old Roland (analog and digital) too.. though my overall preference is analog (currently with the newer synths: Prophet 10 rev 4, OB-6 and Korg Prologue 16).
So... thanks for reminding me about the Crumar (that'll be after the MR2 project though)

It's funny how this thread keeps coming back. I have to admit I quite enjoyed fixing the synth although there wasn't a lot wrong with it. I did think it could be the beginning of a new career but that wasn't the case. I've fixed exactly one old synth.
Oh, and I said I'd bought a keyboard with the intension of learning to play it. I still can't play it. To be honest I probably need somebody to teach me and I just don't have time. I need to dump this 'working for a living' nonsense and get on with all the other things I want to do.
James
